JayzTwoCents did a review on this tower cooler a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised by its performance/value:

It's almost identical to the Hyper 212 Black Edition in design and mounting mechanisms, but this one has 5 copper heatpipes vs 4 on the Hyper 212 BE.

I bought this a little over a week ago. It dropped my temps significantly (Ryzen 5 3600). It wasn't listed anywhere when I bought it, but it does come with thermal paste.

I will say though, attaching the fan to the heatsink is a PAIN with your board installed. If you install it before the motherboard is in the case you'll have a much better experience.

I have the ID Cooling and the Vetroo V5. In my initial tests, the ID Cooling runs about 4 degrees C cooler than the Vetroo installed on a Ryzen 3600. Also between the two, I found the ID Cooling unit to be easier to install on AMD, though the Vetroo is not bad particularly difficult.
Good to know. I was looking for info on the id-cooling. I am assuming you have the id-cooling se-224-xt?

What about noise level between the two?

This popped up at the perfect time. I never really paid attention to my CPU temps (Ryzen 5 3600) until recently, but I noticed that it's sitting around 50 C at idle and 80-90 C under load. Not even a full load, but around 75%... I even reapplied thermal paste, but it only helped a little bit. It hovers more around 80 C than 90 C now under load.

I hope this cooler is an improvement. I even ordered an extra 120mm fan so I can have both an intake and an exhaust.

Will this cooler fit the MSI z490 motherboard? Thank you.
Yes it will fit the motherboard, but that's not the clearance you need to be concerned with. You need to know if it will fit in the case you're using and you need to know if it hangs over your RAM and if your RAM will fit under it. That information isn't necessarily defined by what type of motherboard you have. You'll need to look at the measurements for the parts you plan to use.

I'm not trying to be rude, but I do think that if this is a question, then you need to slow down your build, do some more reading, and get a little more understanding of the components that you're piecing together.

You (currently) only one a single case fan and you're wondering why your cpu temps are high? I'd bet when you add that second case fan, your temps will drop decently.

4 degrees is not much. Well within random variation of the installation. All of these single tower 4-5 pipe cheap fan coolers perform quite close to each other; you can't cheat physics. The id cooling tends to do a little better because it has a noisy higher airflow fan. But that's just trading noise for thermals. Nothing magical about it.

Case fans are more important than CPU cooler. Fix that first. Two 120mm fans is pretty low. I run 4 140mm fans currently.

It should fit the board, but the side panel might have to be off, its pretty tall. Have heard height from board to side panel is 140mm.

Sorry I worded that poorly. I have an H510 that already has an intake and exhaust. Popping the side panel off didn't really improve thermals either. I was going to add the extra fan to the cpu cooler itself.

i actually just got the vetroo L5 low profile CPU cooler yesterday. it is going for $30 and it looks awesome. plugs into the 3 pin RGB controller along with the other 2 rgb fans i have in the case so now all fans are rainbow without having to do anything. ebay had this on sale at $24 for months only until last week when it bumped up in price to $30. this is a very nice CPU cooler and visit similar to the gammax 400 or 212. i know 212 and gammax RGB has RGB version but it cost much more.

This depends on the airflow of the case and what you are running. I only run two intake 120s and one exhaust 120 and have no issues with temps on a 10850K or RTX 3080. I'm using a meshify case though and have good front to back airflow.

from many reviewers the extra fan on the cpu cooler is pointless, if you meant to put it as the exhaust of the case then yes that helps.

In 4 1. Just build a pc with 10850k. I couldn't wait for CM Hyper 212 to come down and hope this will work well. Thank you.
You need a better cooler than a 212 evo for that CPU. Hopefully, this will work, but I wouldn't overclock much if at all.
