Never buy a dark exterior cooler. You will notice a huge difference.

Edited add:
black-body is infinite in emissivity and absorvity, meaning if surrounding temperature is higher than the cooler surface, the cooler black-body will absorb radiation heat much faster. This is pure marketing decision, no real engineer will design like this.

I've taken this cooler on two cross country trips and many smaller road trips and it works great. I have an electric one but this works well enough that I haven't switched it out. Just a couple of bucks of ice every day or so will keep things cool. You will have very cold contents after 2-3 days but I wouldn't be confident in refrigerating certain foods past 2 days. The only con is the telescoping handle is not super robust and the mechanism seems to have failed enough where it's tough to telescope and retract, but that could be a maintenance issue and well... it's still going, so it's been good enough.

If out in the sun, of course.... but the white top with navy bottom should be better for all around usage.

We typically cover with a cheap moving blanket from HF [harborfreight.com] with the light colored side up, that also cushions a bit when sitting on.

Two competing $25 coolers listed on SD, the other being:

Even though the igloo is larger, think I am leaning toward the coleman, looks a little more robust.

Yes, we are thinking very similar...

This Coleman claims it can be used as a seat (up to 250lb) whereas the Igloo has a hollow lid that is clearly stamped as not a seat. In the Q&A, people are filling the Igloo lid with spray foam which I would have thought should already be there for insulation. I would still go with the white lid on the Coleman.... if not a blanket on top, a dark color could be hot on bare legs.

We buy items delivered from Walmart all the time (including this TP [walmart.com]), so the $35 minimum is not an issue and Walmart accepts PayPal.

The lids on these are unbelievably TIGHT! Stick with the Igloo one. Six years running with my Igloo from Walmart-just watch those wheel spindle taps (tap with ball bean hammer once in a while!- (loosensafter a few years in and out of a subcompact auto (100s times!)

I haven't tried this specific cooler but I have always been disappointed with Coleman coolers keeping ice. Igloo FTW.

Another vote for the handle not being robust. I've had this model for a long time and had to rig up a new handle when it broke. Otherwise a pretty good cooler. I'll be adding spray foam to the lid now that I know it's hollow. This should help increase strength for sitting on it as well!

Came to post this. So dumb of them to make them this color. Doesn't really make any sense to me why they did, unless the raw plastic was cheaper.

I have the lighter colored version, I won it but I believe they got it at costco. Fantastic cooler.
