I had the aluminum on my first round of this product, which I scratched once and replaced and then shattered another.
I currently have a S4 in SS and I recommend the extra money here. It is much more durable, and I have yet to scratch it. I seem to always bump it on things, walking upstairs, etc. I'm not sold on the replacement cost for me on what adds an always on display.
This is a great deal, and worth the upgrade if you are rocking S3 or older and looking to replace. Do the stainless. It's worth the cash.
Hmm... I also bought a SE and waiting for both shipments to see which one I would keep. Personally I might keep the stainless steel as it has better materials. SE and 5 are pretty much the same in terms of functionality.
I would keep the one that feels/fits better. Steel version is heavier and tougher. And I am cheap so I like big discounts. Lol.
The SE is not the same as the 5. The SE has no always-on display or ECG sensor.
I finally wear the SE model with the sport silicone band. I like the watch (I'll prob return for the Series 6 cuz of quick charge time (100% in 1.5 hours unlike SE 2.5 hours) but the band isn't that comfortable to wear for hours. It cause my skin to react redness. Not sure what the ideal band to get.

Get the Nylon based ones. I also have the same issue with skin rash. I had to remove watch and over moisturize my skin to get it back to normal.
It's unbelievable here the level of confusion with the stainless steel vs. aluminum models.
1) In general, all stainless steel models always have cellular as well (LTE), thus you have to compare GPS+LTE if you even want to compare to the aluminum models.
More important, most people who ever had a stainless steel model will not go back to aluminum models because they look better, and more importantly:
2) The stainless stell models are made of well, steel, so general much harder and more scratch and ding resistant. The exception is anything silver/chrome colored, which, while harder, the scratches and chips might be easier to spot. But still, you have less if them.
3) The stainless steel models also have a much harder saphire glass, which is much more scratch resistent.
Personally, I have a 15 months old 4 series SS that looks like new and I will not replace this with anything else but another stainless steel model. It's totally worth the money.
Oh really? Cool. When will you be getting the SE? I hope you will report back here on your assessment!
So I got both and tried them on. Decided to keep both (one for wife, one for me). I am using the stainless steel one as it is heavier. In terms of functionality, no difference.... I do not really understand the ECG technology Always on feature is not important to me neither. Keeping the stainless steel one just because the discount. SD effect. Lol. Overall good gadget to have.

Same version of series 6 is typically about $150 more on Walmart's website.
That 2x brighter always on display is a big diff. Maybe not a $200 difference, but series 7 is 5-6 months away.
If I didn't have the Black SS 4 series, I would be all over it.

You can also try silicone ones from Amazon. Silicone ones are softer than the authentic Apple sport band. I have purchased these:

and these Nike knock-offs
