It would be a good deal if they fixed the AX band conflict with backhaul channel.

Update: I took it back. I thought it is the 2pk. For a single unit, it is not a very good deal.

It's a best router. No doubts. I am using it on Verizon. They have fixed all the issues recently. It's not a deal for mesh users as you can find 2 routes on Amazon for 340 plus 20 off if you use discover points.

A firmware update came out that supports using all 3 channels in mesh mode when using Ethernet backhaul

Lousy price for a buggy router. Only 5GHz-2 band is AX. Require frequent reboot or it can drop or refuse connections. Just last night it disconnected and refuse to connect on guest SSID that I used for IoTs. The only way to resolve It is to reboot.

Currently have 2 ac86u routers. Suggestions to upgrade ? Would like better coverage and WiFi speed. Getting 160mb down on 600mb down Comcast. I have an older 68u that won't run in aimless. Would it be smart to just connect it via ethernet and run in AccessPoint mode?

This router sucks. Bought it to be the main router with 3 other ac68u as nodes. Constant dropping and forgetting of nodes. I returned it.

When you take antennas up, they click, giving impression they are now in place.
However, they just go down with the slighest force - that click had nothing with placing antenna into their position.
Sure it's Asus and sure they know how to make a router but for this model - they can only get 10$ from me because of this miserable execution, not 190$.

That being said, the router itself sure is better that Netgears for similar money. But it's no match Tplink ax50 from Costco.

I have two of these routers. It supports WiFi 5 and WiFi 6 in AI Mesh or AP mode. If you use wired backhaul, you can use the 5 ghz - 2 channel for Wi Fi6. This has been a great router -- except for the December firmware release -- there's a whole thread on that at SNBFORUM. That firmware was fixed in late January, so it's stable again. But, given the recent release of WiFi 6e routers, I'd recommend, if you can, to hold off on purchasing. WiFi 6e is a significant change and the current generation of WiFi 6 routers won't support WiFi 6e.

As noted in my other post, if you can hold off on purchasing a router, I'd recommend waiting a few months for more WiFi 6e routers to roll out. AX92u is a solid router. I have 1gb Xfinity service and I get wired downloads at 940 mbps and wireless downloads (at router) of 920 mbs. The AC86u routers should be capable of 600 mbs down on Comcast. If you're running AI Mesh or wireless repeater mode, then yes, try wired backhaul. That will make a big difference on speed. Speed difference between AI Mesh and AP mode - shouldn't be too significant if you're running wired backhaul.

I was one of the complainers on SNBForums because I had issues with these router since AI Mesh 2 shows up. Until the combination of latest firmware and not using the Smart Connect feature made it work really well. Using with wired backhaul (with MoCA adapters in-between) and it's been rock solid with crazy heavy use (wireless and all ports filled in, with fan added on top of each for good measure).

Meant this deal for those like me who had a double pack already and just needed a third one. Seems to be expired now and can't find a remove button so will let moderator know.

About 6E, the consensus is you want to jump on it if live where there are is saturation with a lot of wifi stations but stay on 5GHz vs 6GHz if living where both are open.
