I honestly feel a little better knowing I'm not alone in my experience, but at the same time it's quite sad to hear a company treat customers this way.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.
I tell myself I won't make the mistake again, yet here I am, lurking SD, tempted to pull the trigger yet again.
Must ...refrain ...

It's too bad to hear about bad quality control & cc/paypal stories from HP.com like above....

But for all the people who end up becoming lucky to make this deal work for 1279-$1300ish, then BF/Christmas of 2021 came early for you and this deal is a steal for the 3070 model.
and it takes the crown away from every Rtx 30 series deal so far, and last year's Asus g14 open box for $980. The 3060 deal is also good, but we'll probably see this price + config come back again later this year on future sales. 1000-$1150 seems to be the new "going sale rate" for 3060 this entire year, depending on other specs cpu, ram, ssd etc.

(The 3070 model is a more powerful better future proofed machine at a savings of $300. Not sure if Rtx 3070/mq with Ryzen 7 5800h cpu will come any lower than this all year, maybe $50-100 less by end of year holiday sales).

There's a restocking fee. I forget if it's 15% or 25% and you can't refuse delivery because they don't require signature. The delivery person can literally leave it anywhere they leave any other package.
Not true. You can refuse the package at any time after delivery was made by taking the package to USPS, UPS, or Fedex and telling them you refuse it. The only condition is the package must not be opened. You can also dispute restocking fee with your credit card issuer (this might not work but it depends on the card's issuer).

Hp customer service is really bad. Know that your window of cancellation is only one hour after you buy and only if you do so in their business hours.

I feel like I should have gone with the 3070... just cause the price is good, but honestly I dont think I would need more than a 3060. Been gaming on a 1050gtx in a chassis that throttles like a mofo for a few years and a 3060 will be much better. The extra money is probably well spent, but probably not for me...

the inability to cancel has me worried though

Man, so jealous of all these configs. But I want a number pad. Oh, well, trying to stay under $1000 mark anyway, so I guess it's good I'm not tempted into a sweet but overly powerful machine for my needs. Hope everyone who ordered one gets theirs and has no problems!

With all the caution around here about their customer service, I'm surprised more people aren't concerned about any warranty issues.

its because a lot of ppl who game like to modify their computers. I have put a 8gb stick of ram in my current one + 1 TB SSD + removed HDD and put in a new one. once you do this, you remove the warranty.

Ordered using the incognito mode student discount trick previously mentioned. Pro-tip: most schools provide .edu alumni email accounts. That's what i used in my case and it worked. Side note I'm coming from an EVOO laptop with a 1660ti... this was totally an impulse purchase. I was confident the 1660ti will work for gaming well into the future, but a 3070 was too good to pass up.

I don't understand why you would make a 15.6" laptop without a number pad. It's not like they're working with limited space like it's a 13".

I'm using a 15.6" Omen with a 1060 that has a number pad right now. Wonder why they decided to get rid of it.

How easy/hard is it nowadys to get rid of all the hp bloatware thats my main concern now lol.
Pretty easy, most of them are Windows store apps. They keep reinstalling during updates and setup but eventually you can kill them
