YMMV: TIP have everything set up in your cart. Sit on it for a few hours. Close the window for another hour or so. Eventually HP will take off another $60. Using id.me I got $55 off as well. 1% CB from your favorite CB site. It helps.

I got this one for a little under $1600:

I know it's more expensive, but it is 100% a Max P 3070 with 16 GB of 3200 RAM, and a 5800H... and it's not HP. Don't have many good experiences with HP.

Presuming the 2021 chassis is like the 2020 that weight listing includes the charging brick. It's actually about 4.6 lbs. It is thicker though and I returned a 2020 version because I like the Zephryus build and form factor better.

With that said I also picked up an open box G15 and won the panel lottery. This Omen is a solid deal but I don't want to deal with panel issues and shipping it back.

Hard to decide between FHD or QHD. Noting that this is the Max-Q variant.. I am thinking FHD is better? But what about getting QHD then playing at FHD? Some games could run at high FPS at QHD with a 3070 Max-Q, if you forego that option -- you might be limiting yourself

Man.....I was going to wait for more 30x0 laptops to come out but the 5800H + 3070 only being $140 over the base seemed like a pricing mistake.....had to bite. 1333 shipped with 512 SSD and 16GB upgrades as well.

Shopping for an RTX 30xx series laptop is a little trickier than I imagined. They more or less drop the max P and max Q versions so you're gonna have to look at TGP and benchmarks I guess. I ran across an article that had three laptops with the same configuration same GPUs but three different brands and they all had hugely different benchmarks despite having the same set up. And mainly has to do with thermals and TGP. So essentially you can have 3 rtx3070 laptops with scores gaps big enough to think hey is that a 3060? I'm gonna wait till the smoke clears for now..

You could game at any screen resolution so why not go with the higher one if the refresh is the same? I mean if you game on qhd and it's kinda slow you can configure the game to 1080p no? While it's not native resolution you can pick up a few FPS if that's your thing.

I am a bit worried about upscaling degradation at 1080p to 1440p. Some have said that things look better when you are playing at the native resolution of the screen.
