Easily. You'll need to remove the battery though.
That's interesting. Why is that important?

It can overload from the constant stress and swell up. Not a problem if you're going to mine for a week or two but for a year or more it's safer.

I ordered 2-17" laptop for around $900 last Dec. Yes, it was shipped from China. Almost all laptops are made in China, either it directly shipped from China, others, or US anyway. That part is not so important but the HP customer service is nothing else but nightmare.

I tried to change the shipping address without help. Long waiting hours on tel, etc.

Just make sure to make up your mind before placing your order!

I've gotten used to Thunderbolt connectivity. Anyone know best to connect all the peripherals to this machine?

Will be at my desk most if not all the time and need to connect to:
-4K monitor
-LAN
-speakers

Current (non-gaming) laptop uses one thunderbolt cable to hub, including for power. How would this setup compare?

I was waiting to do a self build desktop (i7/11x + 3060 @ ~$1000) but this R7/5800 + 3070 for $1300 is very appealing.

Actually, it will not void the warranty if you are in the United States.
In fact, the use of such stickers could get the Manufacturer in deep legal trouble.
True. But considering how bad their service is they will just find another excuse if that doesn't work. Your recourse is to do a chargeback or sue them.

What's up with the March 26th bullshit though? Does anyone know?
It means they want to get you locked into buying a laptop that the factory in China doesn't even have parts for yet.

Hp customer service is really bad. Know that your window of cancellation is only one hour after you buy and only if you do so in their business hours.
This is an insanely good price. Especially for the 3070 model. But man, how much is that headache and anguish worth?

I get it... it's great to get something for a good price, and... maybe it will all be fine? Take a chance! That's the draw. The gambler in me imagines the great deal and everything being ok.

But I feel like it's better to not reward companies like this. Just don't deal with them. Unfortunately the "good" retailers for computers seems like a short list. Based on my limited experience and SD feedback, I'd say:

1) Costco... by a wide margin.
2) Walmart.
3)?

Usb C hubs work the same as thunderbolt , Check out Dell usb c hubs . Displayport out is better for connecting external monitors , Thunderbolt only offers igp pass through .

Technical question: I currently use ThrottleStop to undervolt my CPU on my EVOO laptop. The existing BIOS does not have the ability to alter such things. Do HP laptops have decent BIOS that allow under-volting, etc. or should I continue to use Throttlestop?

Cool, thanks! So I could still use a hub.

The difference here, if I understand correctly: there is no PD on gaming laptops so would need to plug in power. Net difference = two plugs to the laptop, a USB C cable plus power cable. Right?

(I know, first world problems.)

Lotta people speaking out of their asses. This review of the last-gen model made me feel much better about the purchase. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkvzHjuZAb8
Price cannot be beaten. Who cares about waiting? Personally in no rush, so I can wait a month for this thing. It's only 27 days now. Have had many legion machines, so sick of the design and noise. Tons of issues with the legion machines I've had. Not trying that again.

So remove the battery and keep it plugged in and let it mine? Didn't know you could do that. Do you recommend to do it with all mining laptops?

Ordered using the incognito mode student discount trick previously mentioned. Pro-tip: most schools provide .edu alumni email accounts. That's what i used in my case and it worked. Side note I'm coming from an EVOO laptop with a 1660ti... this was totally an impulse purchase. I was confident the 1660ti will work for gaming well into the future, but a 3070 was too good to pass up.

•Two 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ TLC M.2 SSD with Raid 0 configured (I have a 1TB nvme already at home)
•Full-size, 1-zone white backlit
•16 GB DDR4-3200 SDRAM (2 x 8 GB)
•Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (2x2)
•Windows 10 Home 64 ADV
•AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800H (up to 4.4 GHz, 16 MB L3 cache, 8 cores, 16 thread) + NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3070 (8 GB)
•15.6" diagonal FHD 144 Hz

$1234.99 subtotal with $55 student discount
Really sweet deal.. With RGB keyboard it is only $20 more. Comes out to about $1350 after tax.
Best deal I've seen all year considering you get one of the best CPUs everyone's been wanting plus a well balanced great gpu RTX 3070 (even if it is only a mq).

When compared to past comparable gaming laptops like this. eg. costco msi RTX 2070 laptop for $1200 during black friday, Dell Alienware RTX 2070, or Legion5Ryzen+2060/ Legion7 with RTX 2070, MSI RTX 2070 super deals,
this seems better than all of them for only $50 to $150 more.
If I was in the market I'd definitely consider this.
---------
Before this deal, something like this was costing a minimum of $1560 eg. Gigabyte from that odd website. Hope everyone enjoys their 3070, regardless if it is maxQ or maxP.
---------
Those who pass up on this deal, should either look for an unbelievable under $1000 laptop with rtx 3060 with i5/ ryzen5 like at Walmart or BB open box,
or
just save up for a desktop RTX 3070 and leave this in the dust..
---------
Extra thoughts: even the OP's Rtx 3060 ryzen5 laptop deal is a nice upgrade over the popular Legion 5 Ryzen7 rtx2060 for $1029.99 from eBay last couple months.
(Really sweet deal with -$55 student discount for $1095.)

I severely recommend this as an IT professional, if the laptop allows. Do it.

For those who cannot avail a 55$ student discount , You can try perks @ work if your company offers it , you can still get the same 55$ off .
