I hate looking for new tech, because there's typically something better around the corner, and much of the time, I end up getting something that has too many frills that go unused. I'm currently running a Dell 7577 (i5 w/ 1060MQ), and I've never used its Thunderbolt support. I was initially going to do the pre-order on that Gigabyte A5 X1 laptop w/ 3070MP that was listed here on SD, but I'm hesitant because the seller seems so unfamiliar and wording on the website leaves little to be desired imo, not to mention that I'd get charged immediately with no easy way to cancel if at all. So I went to pass on that and was going to wait on the Lenovo Legion Pro, but then this OMEN deal pops up.

Probably the main thing holding me back is the 3070MQ, as I was set on getting a laptop with a 3070MP (like the only I mentioned earlier), but do I really need the MaxP? This laptop or the Legion is going to be a pretty big upgrade for me regardless. As it is, I have my laptop connected to my 4K TV and play on the couch with a tray and separate keyboard/mouse as I don't have the room in my small apartment to set up a dedicated computer area, plus having a laptop means I can take it with me on trips. The other thing is what many people here talked about, and that's with regards to cancellation.

A few questions though. Does this only have 2 NVMe slots, or does it also have a slot for a 2.5" drive? Would be nice if it did because then I can move my SATA SSD from my current laptop to this one. If I were to go with 16GB, I could just configure the build before purchase, but if I wanted to go 32GB, would it be best to just stick with the 8GB configuration, and purchase 32GB elsewhere?
Too much thinking, not enough buying! Unless you're willing to spend significantly more, I don't think you'll find the incremental other changes you want.

If i had any faith that Lenovo would be shipping 5xxx legions any time soon I'd have waited too. But sure seems like that's unlikely.

Well, it's unfortunate that the deal is dead (or is for the time being).

for what it's worth I jumped on this yesterday real quick. After reading a few comments I decided I wanted to make a few changes to my configuration so I ended up placing a second order, then contacting HP to inquire about cancelling the first. I got an auto-response saying it would take 2-5 days to have someone get back to me, but yesterday evening I already got a response saying that they would attempt to cancel it, and this morning I got confirmation that it would be cancelled with a refund appearing in 2-5 days. Not quite as straightforward as a "cancel item" button, but it wasn't the brutal gauntlet I expected after reading some folks' stories.

=/ I was trying to cancel mine 54 minutes after ordering yesterday (yeah, I checked the exact amount of time)
and was told they couldn't because it was being built lol.

Agent (Penleigh J): "The Omen Laptop that you have placed the order a while ago was already confirmed and is currently being built already by our manufacturing team. With this, we don't have the option to cancel the order now."

I should have just kept annoying them until they cancelled but I'm feeling good about the price so I'll just keep it.

Deal lasted all morning until now. I first saw this deal around 8am eastern. So deal must have ended around 4pm est.
Great deal for everyone who got in. Hope it all goes well.
Gives hope that maybe future deals will approach, match or beat this some day this year...

Anyone added a HP Care Pack to their order?

$179 for 3 years warranty (accident included)
(if end up not using any service will get a full refund)

Seems to be a very good deal?Any thought?
Seems to be too good to be true:https://store.hp.com/us/en/cv/ris...-care-pack

You can also add it later within 30 days of purchase. I think they are counting on you to either lose it even when you make a normal tech support call or to forget about it after 3 years. The refund is not automatic and you would need to fill out a claim form after 3 years are done. Also some CC extended warranties dont apply for manufacturer warranty greater than 2 years so keep that in mind.

If you are going for it, then make sure to keep all documentation saved as well as the claim form.

Looking at their page with all their Omen laptops, this particular one doesn't even show it's Out of Stock like many others. Wondering if this was not meant to be listed in the first place. As others noticed, pricing of the 3070 configuration with a better CPU was less than another with a weaker CPU and a 3060.
