That configuration is a steal. When you get to the page you might look for a tab to pick the GPU. You won't find it. You have to change the CPU to change the GPU.

I know it's more expensive, but it is 100% a Max P 3070 with 16 GB of 3200 RAM, and a 5800H... and it's not HP. Don't have many good experiences with HP.

Point being, I think everyone is trying to compare 30XX deals to older 20XX deals and saying the 30XX are good deals. But the math would argue this is not a great deal for the new batch of computers with the 30XX, just a good one....

The price difference comes up to be $500, for ~25% better performance, 30% bigger battery, bigger screen but 35% added cost. If you can get that for ~1500 then I guess that one is better.

When you spec the HP to roughly the same. it's not that much more expensive. You can't compare 8gb ram, 256gb, fhd, etc. Once you add the options to the HP, you're sitting at $250ish more for the Asus but you get the better ryzen, fingerprint, PD, etc...And let's be honest, 8gb RAM won't cut it and games these days are over 150gb each.. so if you need a 3070, you're going to need to spec it up.
Absolutely... 1.2 can handle 2k 165.
The only people that care that much about nits are nitwits. 300 nits is well above good enough for matte displays (almost all gaming laptops)

Point I'm trying to make is that it's not a massive savings for this HP Omen. You're more or less getting a good deal, but not crazy good. The asus in cart, with the 10% discount it's sitting at $1310 and don't have to wait 30+ days.
I chose the tuf between it, the omen, and the g15. It's $60 more, but I also get 1Tb, 240hz, and USB PD. To me, thats a better deal. And I personally prefer the intel models because it's easier to run a hackintosh or Mac OS vm.
But I still think the HP deal is good and happy you enjoy the deal. Just not as good as everyone is making it out to be.
my understanding is the 2020 Omen does not have either, it would be nice if this model did

That CPU has half the cores on the TUF.
I absolutely appreciate how the new Ryzens draw less wattage (less heat) and perform benches better.
But more cores is an arbitrary metric for almost anything people are going to be doing on a laptop with a dedicated GPU.

You're basically just falling into this more is better category without knowing why.
