I got excited I thought this was 20v!
No... even the lowest quality Dewalt 20 volt brushed will have more power then this 12 volt. These do have great power for their size, but these are meant for size/ weight convenience, not power. Also the larger amp battery does NOT increase power... only runtime.
Yeah, I'm sure they're sold out everywhere because no one is buying them. Totally makes sense.

They don't have the free generator sites like they used to but some still sell them. $1.99 for the site I use. Ebay usually has them for $4.
What site do you use? Or if you could, just PM me the name of the site. Thanks! Smilie

I actually found this as a promotional display (should have grabbed a photo) at my local Lowe's today here in NC. They had the tools with the 5ah batteries packaged separately on the top shelf. Took me awhile to decide to take the plunge with the reciprocating saw, but this is actually a pretty solid deal considering the recip used to be $169, then $139, to $99 now with free battery.

It's worth looking at least to see, would have easily gone unnoticed.
Does it use full size blades? Thanks.

It seems to work with my existing blades so far. I was between this and the m12 Milwaukee but the battery put it over the top for me.

Thanks, got one for $80 + tax (added Lowe's contractor pencils $.20 x 5 = $1) to reach $100 and use the $20 off coupon code. Total $86.20 tax included (CA sales tax, 7.75%). Coupon worked on the saw (bare tool).

UPDATE: Already got the pickup email. Great deal, thanks again, OP!

12v system isn't worth $1 compared to 20v. Not even remotely comparable for around the house jobs. The batteries die way to quick. Just use electric tools if you can't afford the dewalt 20v tools or look for ryobi or kobalt clearance deals on their 18-20v stuff.

They last me longer than my Ryobi 20v non brushless with more torque so your statement is foolish

I've used a 12v drill in my house for basic stuff and light projects (built a shed, remodeled 2 bathrooms, basic repairs, install attic ladder) and it worked flawlessly.
Yes the 20v is probably stronger and more future proof, but they are also 50% more expensive.

This will do just fine for the average joe. My unit is probably 10 years old, 1 battery did died, the 2nd one is still running and the tool works just like new.

This is for the extreme brushless 12v it's a different animal than the older 12v

OK here's dumb question please educate me: these 12V tools will not accept a 20V MAX battery, correct?
Correct but the chargers that come with the 20v equipment will charge these 12v batteries.

My statement is based on experience. I have all the tools I mentioned and the 12v batteries die way to quick compared to ryobi 18v and dewalt 20v. There's no point to them imo especially at this price point. Lighter and smaller is great but the 20v isn't exactly heavy...

To each his own but I love my extreme line wish the made more tools only 5 sucks but I love mine cabinet work is better vs the 20v fits better for my purpose now the older non brushless is bad

This is where I'm at as well. I held one in store and really liked it but let's be real they are not significant smaller and significantly lighter than the 20v to justify getting into a whole new set of batteries. That said I don't work with these for a living...

Atleast they use the same charger as the 20v but the 12v line is so small why no just do m12 if you're looking to go compact.

Maybe I'm biased because in already into m12 but don't see the point unless you just not invested in any system or this is a gift for someone without power tools.

But still a great price for what is it with the big battery.
I started getting M12 Fuel stuff before Dewalt started refreshing their 12V line. I actually like the Dewalt stuff a bit better in theory just because the battery removal on the M12's can be a pain with the pinch to release. Especially in stuff where the battery goes up into the housing like some of the lights or the inflator. I much prefer the slide in batteries like Dewalt uses, even though there's a tradeoff in size if you use the compact batteries on the M12.

I've got a split tool setup. Dewalt for 20v big tools, but M12 Fuels for small stuff. Just got the Stubby, which is supposedly great. Now the new Dewalt Xtreme impact wrench supposedly has even higher specs, so maybe Dewalt is upping their game.

Is 12v drill enough to use around the house as driver as well as drill? I bought 12v Bosch drill and driver combo last week for this price. not sure if I want to lug around both drill and driver for small projects, if I can do both with one.

Edit: not a big deal about 5ah battery considering that I won't be doing house projects for hours. Having it helps but not a deal breaker for me.

Thanks! Had no clue about this website. I got one, added a few pencils to hit $100 and worked like a charm. It will not stack with the military discount. but $20 is better than 10% Smilie

I originally was going to pass but i need an extra impact and for what i need it for it will be perfect. Came out to about $90, can sell the charger for $20, so i net out $70 with the impact and 3 batteries. Then I'll have a few batteries in case they ever expand the 12v line.

AKA i talked myself into buying more tools.
