This is a lens not a camera. Sony does make good cameras for low light. Generally speaking, the images from a low megapixel camera (like an a7S III) will have less noise than images from a high megapixel camera (like an a7R III).
As far as lenses go, one with a large aperture can let in more light allowing you can keep your ISO lower. This lens can go to f/1.8 so it will perform well. 35mm may not be wide enough for astrophotography though and it may be difficult to focus on stars at f/1.8.

Is this good for videos? I have a 85mm f1.8 from sony for close up shots. I am wondering if I should get 35mm rokinon rather than sony for videos.
I would probably spend a bit more money and get the Tamron 17-28mm for video. Check out the reviews. Oh and try urlhasbeenblocked. I was able to score one for $720 no taxes and free shipping.
I have this but am probably going to get rid of it. It's small , light, and inexpensive but the rendering just is weird and the way it treats some highlights is weird. I wasn't sure until I got some other lenses from sigma and tamron which render way better.
Is this the exact same as the samyang lens? Weird they have two identical lenses with different brand names.
Samyang is the OEM. Rokinon is an American company that has a deal with Samyang to rebrand their lenses and sell them in the USA under the Rokinon name. As for why, your guess is as good as mine, but obviously it has been beneficial to both companies because they continue to do it.

Epterkim was talking specifically about the a7iii and leeryan was asking about a7ii... I am not sure if there is a difference...

Sony is better for videos as it has no focus breathing.

It is nice - sharp wide open, fairly light and compact. No issues.
Sam's here damm
So, good for a budget, but otherwise no.
Thanks! That's what I thought. Review on this camera shows the autofocus is not too bad compare to Sony though.

Thank for the feedback. I'd wait for a deal on Sony lens.
