I have had xv273k back when it's launched. Overall good design and decent feature set. just the panel itself is lackluster(especially at high refresh rate) and backlight bleeding is too much for me. So I returned it. I am now using LG27 950. Less features but a perfect panel to me. I feel really satisfied using it with dp1.4 dsc. Probably won't upgrade till microLED panel comes out. Personal view on 2 things. 27 inch is too small for 4k? No I think it's too big. I think ideal size should be 4k at 23inch and 5k at 27inch. The reason is of course for high PPI. 200 PPI, aka apple's Retina standard for monitors, really matters for human eyes. 2nd, Few people needs to play AAA at over 100hz(future AAA will also crush future GPU, the performance target of developers will be 60hz for a long time), because AAA game is not competitive. I need it because I play PUBG rank and try to reduce every last bit of input lag and a consistent high refresh rate. 4K is just for my eye candy.

Just to make sure people are aware and clear, this is G-Sync COMPATIBLE, not hardware G-Sync with a fan. That would be the Sb variant versus the Gp variant that is listed here.

Still a solid display, of course. I have the Sb and I love it.

This comes in and out of stock based off of Amazon stock. Been this way for a week or 2. I just picked one up. Have been using for about 5 days and its great for productivity / gaming. Couldn't be happier with it.

Uhhh, not really... 27" 4k monitor is specifically designed for sitting 24" from your screen. At this distance and size, a person with 20/20 eyesight will not be able to resolve individual pixels. Human eye can resolve quite a bit, but 27"/5k at ~24" viewing distance is far beyond what the human eye can resolve.* You have diminishing returns after 4k/27". Unless you need a bigger screen because you sit further away, you're better off getting a better panel. Apple's retina displays are mostly a marketing gimmick. The real use of 5k displays is so that you can render 4k video at native resolution, windowed.

Also, anyone who has gamed higher than 60hz knows that high refresh rates are not solely for competitive play. There is a significant improvement in smoothness above 60hz due to higher refresh rates, better frame timing, etc. When I do play competitively, I do not use a 4k monitor - I use 1080 or 1440 so I can push framerates past 240hz.

Funny, I'm the opposite. I went from 27 to 32 and back to 27 as I prefer the higher ppi.

I have to disagree with you here. I, as a user, can clearly tell the downgrade in quality from a 22.5inch 4K monitor to a 27inch 4k monitor, or from a 27inch 5k panel to a 27inch 4k. I don't know why people or reviewers make such comment, but I understand if people sensation can be different. If what you are saying is correct. Then apple's retina monitor is just pointless. I can't really go back to any monitor with lower PPI anymore so I settle here. It's just a sweet spot for me personally.

While true, a lot of monitors are typically higher than previous low prices "on sale"

I think its a matter of inflation in some areas, not exactly sure.
