Harbor Freight trying to move upmarket is just a joke. I'm not buying a Hercules power tool at 60%-75% of the cost of a Dewalt or a Milwaukee. I'm not buying an ICON instead of a Snap-On. I want to buy stuff that is cheap (like 25%-50% the cost of a mainstream brand) with the understanding that it will likely break way sooner than a nicer brand if I use it heavily.

Eliminating coupons, raising prices, and forcing memberships completely eliminates what makes HF "special" to me. They are great at stuff like zip ties, hammers, air compressor fittings, paint strainers, etc. where they are made in the exact same factory as the "big boys" (and look the same too) but cost a fraction of the price. Once you start getting into stuff with moving parts, it's a lot more risky, but there are still good deals to be had with things like their air impacts.

Count me out if this is HF's permanent new direction. I would rather just go to Lowes and Home Depot at that point.
Harbor Freight has some killer jack stands. They smash their competitors in quality and drop dead prices!
"killer", "smash", "drop dead"... nothing slips past you, sleuth

If you use their jackstands, you won't be doing any more returns!

I almost stopped in last night to get a pair of spark plug testers. Glad I waited.

I wonder if the perpetual 20% off coupon is going away...

I'm starting to get that vibe from them. Half the price and half the quality. Although I did buy a rotary tumbler from them recently that has held up, but the tumbler I bought the other day started leaking all over my garage.

Just don't buy tools or hardware there. You won't be returning stuff. The wheel chocks and tarps are ok.
I would buy simple stuff from them all day long. Bought a 12 lb sledge hammer, and it worked great for the job. Pry bar was also solid. Buy a cheap tool, and if you use it enough that it breaks then get an expensive one. Their foldable trailers look nice for light towing. I have had pretty good luck with their air compressor though a wheel broke as I was wheeling it down some stairs fairly aggressively. Easily fixed though.

I think with these china tariffs they have stopped the usual 20% off coupons, and not many free with purchase coupons. You can always google harbor freight database for coupons.

From what I have seen those coupons are gone, as are the free with purchase coupons. It's going to be hard to justify going to HF without those two motivators.

I have one of their trailers that I have lightly used for hauling brush and after a year it starts rusting and dripping on your beautiful concrete driveway. So I saved a few dollars with their cheap trailer and now have rust stains on my many thousand dollar driveway! And the paint Fades quickly

LOL... Pays for concrete driveway, parks cheap brush trailer on it.

Anyway, most people bashing HF don't actually shop there. The $200 motorcycle lift I bought has been used constantly for the past 5 years with no issues. $40 electric impact gun, no issues. $70 battery jump pack with compressor, no issues. Angle grinder purchased a decade ago, no issues. Daytona low profile jack, no issues. 1300lb electric hoist, no issues.

Most you guys have terrible luck or karma.
