I'll say it again. You can undervolt the processor a good amount: I boosted my 6 core performance 29%, and it runs cooler. You can basically make it as good as a Ryzen (or better) with no risk to hardware. You have total freedom to manipulate power, temperature, and noise to your liking. For instance it runs just as fast at 35W as it did at 45W stock. If I max out the fans and CPU I can run at ~68W and 91C and 4.3MHz on all cores forever.

Undervolting is locked out of most 10th gen CPUs, but MSI allows it. You need to enable it in the bios, and then use Throttlestop. Ryzen processors can't be undervolted.

4th time I've linked in this thread? https://www.techpowerup.com/forum...75.279412/

I'd never done anything like this before. It wasn't hard.

1) Where did you read the reviews?

2) I thought it had good cooling systems. Is it getting hot because MSI activated the full 115 watts on the 2070?

3) It seems your need for games is less and more for productivity. Do you intend for this to be a desktop replacement or need it to be mobile (as in take it to school)? If you need it for mobility, the good thing is it isn't heavy heavy, but the bad part is it has TERRIBLE battery life. So, if mobility is the key, I would avoid it because of the battery.
I read the reviews on Costco and watched Youtube video reviews. Both correlating the same type of issues.

I'm not sure it has good cooling systems. People were complaining that both the power supply and the top section of the keyboard (mostly on the center-left) was super hot (burning hot). The cooling system fans sounds like jet engines after running a game for 30-90 seconds. On one Youtube video review, one person said that these are the loudest fans they heard on any laptop ever.

You are correct. Mostly for productivity. It is a replacement for an older laptop (that isn't a powerhouse). Mobility is important as it needs to go from dorm to library to home often.

Thanks for the reference to the other laptop. Will check it out. thx!

Anyone had this ship yet? I purchased yesterday morning when it said "Estimated Delivery: Friday March 12", now it has changed "Earliest Delivery", it's been over 24 hours and my item still hasn't shipped.

I know I seem impatient but this is my first online purchase from Costco so I don't know what to expect. Plus the billing address has my name but the card hers....hoping I didnt screw up

I recently bought the 2060 version and it has no trouble cooling with CPU and GPU at max.
Oingofan, were the complaints that you read only related to the 2070? Rruff seems to have zero heating problems with the 2060 version which has close to a 5 star rating on Costco.

Once you receive it, would you mind posting a 1 day, 7 day and 14 day review of it? Please focus on the heat aspect. This will immensely help others. Thank you.

Which one? The MSI GE75 2060 RTX or the Asus 2070 SUPER? Or, something else?

I am speculating that they made it easier for their stock pickers by storing and then batch processing all the orders for this laptop at one time so the pickers could be at one spot while fulfilling hundreds of orders (as opposed to being all over the warehouse picking up different items for different orders.

If I was building a logical model for stock picking, that's how I would have done it.

what is the date of manufacturing? It should be on the label either in the box or on the back of the laptop.

That might be a better fit for you. Good reliability, better screen, better reliability, and good battery for a gaming laptop. The drawbacks are higher weight and a somewhat shackled GPU (By the way, Lenovo doesn't shackle the GPU when the laptop has an AMD CPU, only when it has an Intel CPU).

By when do you have to buy the laptop? If you have time, you could look for a Lenovo AMD Ryzen CPU + 2060 TRX).

There was a walmart 2070 SUPER version for $1299 (ASUS STRIX G17 17.3"). Picked it up and had no regrets. Very light laptop and perform really well. Played Cyberpunk with over 60FPS with DLSS ON.

I would wait for that deal again.
1. What is the TDP on the GPU (Asus Strix 17) you got which can run from 45 watts to 115 watts depending on what the manufacturer sets it to based on its various lines - thing & light laptop, professional laptop, etc.

2. Do you experience any overheating problems?

3. How many hours do you get on the battery when exclusively non gaming?

4. Is the laptop heavy? Isn't it like 6.5 lbs?
