In 2-3 years you'll catch up and realize you can't get the latest and greatest for $550.

Be very careful with updates on this laptop. Lenovo recently pushed an update that bricked this model for many dozens of customers. See their support forums [lenovo.com] and reddit.

Lenovo is not owning up to the issue and is instead asking each customer individually to ship the laptop for repairs (and -of course- you're SOL if it's out of warranty).

At least Costco has a good return policy, but I for one will no longer recommend Lenovo laptops based on that.
I see no such thread on the IdeaPad 5. Do you mean this? https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Leno...-p/5069266

That's a Flex 5, a different model, with a 360-degree hinge.

I agree with Lenovo updates.. I had T460s thinkpad and its slow like no other. ReInstalled Winpro, Lenovo updates, Turn Bluetooth off and still slow to open even PowerPoint. Not sure what it is but Lenovo sucks big time.
My HP with Pentium perfrom much fast with SSD than Lenovo.

I've played with this exact model in store. Nice build quality. Decent keyboard, not ThinkPad level of course but decent. Display is IPS and good for the price. Ignore those who say 45% NTSC is horrible - it's totally fine unless you do color-critical work, in which case you're not shopping for $550 laptops at Costco. I think the main downside is that the charger takes up the only USB-C port, and so you need a dock (or a USB-C monitor that has the power and display signal over the same cable) if you want to use the USB-C port for anything else.

I think the Costco display has the weight at 3.7 lbs, which is erroneous (that would be very heavy), it's actually just a hair over 3 lbs.

Just bought this last week. A great laptop for the price. What's the best way to get a price match?

If you purchased on Costco website, click link below and fill out the details.
https://customerservice.costco.co...adjustment

If you purchased in warehouse, go see Customer Service desk and take your receipt, they'll refund you the difference.

Is it worth it to pay a bit extra for Lenovo LEGION 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop - Ryzen 5 4600H - GeForce GTX 1650 - 120Hz 1080p at $679.99 ? Or this one should be similar for most usage?

https://www.costco.com/lenovo-leg...01707.html

AMD Ryzen 5 4600H
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6
15.6" FHD (1920x1080) IPS 250nits Anti-glare, 120Hz, 45% NTSC, DC dimmer
  • 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1
  • 1x power connector
  • 1x Ethernet (RJ-45)
  • 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 (Always On)
  • 1x headphone / microphone combo jack (3.5mm)
  • 1x HDMI 2.0
  • 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 (support data transfer and DisplayPort 1.2)

Looks like for IdeaPad 5, Memory soldered to systemboard (not upgradable), no memory slots. And there is no ethernet port.
RAM not upgradable, 😩

How does this compare to the Costco HP 4700U deal from last month (I bought it for home office use but haven't opened it yet)?: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/t/14841511

I could return the HP for this and save $100
