Bought mine for like $800 a year ago.
Overall, not impressed. The camera is good, the night mode is excellent, update is timely, can be rooted, but took more work than it should've been.
I won't spend $800 for it, but $400 is a great deal.

Do we need to enroll in Google Fi to get the prices?
Or
Just buy this phone and use it with T-mobile because it is already unlocked.

FI is optional I assume. Would like to get this to replace my cracked screen Pixel 3 that I'm currently using with Tello.

Anyone bought from this company before?

Do you have to register with FI to get this deal or can I load it on my current carrier?

This might be worth it due to the impending change to google photos this summer where pixels still keep their free uploads while all other phones will start eating up quota.

Is the T-Mobile bootloader unlockable? I was under the impression that only the non-carrier variant had an unlockable bootloader. I'm guessing maybe you're referring to carrier-unlocked.

EDIT: I stand corrected (and shouldn't have trusted the blog post I read, apparently lol)

This is mistaken. Pixels, as with all devices, will be subject to the new storage limits starting in June. They're doing away with the preferential treatment. Time to find a new photo service or start paying.

Prices are dropping because the Pixel line (all of them) has the camera's completely failing! Google is well aware of the issue and is ignoring thousands of users who now have a phone with no functioning camera. The Play Store is swamped with 1 star reviews on the camera app as they're all dying.

I have a Pixel 2 XL and mine just failed last week.

Last Pixel I will ever own...
complaints about a 3.5 year-old phone? let us know how your 2000 chevy equinox is doing. We're all so curious...

As annoying as it may be, I think the issue was introduced with Android 10 or 11. If you own the rootable non-carrier variant you can actually unlock your bootloader and downgrade to Android 9, which may very well resolve your issue. For the record, I'm a pixel 2 xl owner and I'm still on 9 without any camera issues. I stayed for TWRP recovery reasons, but I guess what you're experiencing is another unexpected perk. It's still ridiculous that you'd have to consider this course of action to have a properly functioning camera, there's no disputing that. Google really needs to figure out whether it wants to commit to the Pixel or drop it - my guess is they'll abandon it eventually, like do many other projects because they have too much money and just don't care, as it isn't their primary bread winner.

The phone is still working and receiving updates. There's literally no good reason that the camera should no longer function and be such a widespread issue if it's properly maintained. You've clearly accepted planned obsolescence sending phones to the trash after 2 years, but some of us actually like to keep the same phone for *gasp* 4 or so years.

Also, we're not asking to run the latest [interest demanding new game here] flawlessly, we're talking about the freakin camera working properly.
