can anyone talk about hte capital one points?
How valuable are they and what are they best used on?
I haven't been traveling much so I don't want to get stuck with the points if they aren't worth much
Personally I prefer the Chase lineup of cards. For me, they have a better selection of travel partners and your points transfer at a 1:1 ratio. Capital One is 2:1.5 or worse for some of their partners. Chase Ultimate Reward points are almost always more highly rated/valued as well. Normally tied with Amex points.
It might be worth taking a look at the travel partners of each card/issuer to see which airlines/hotels would be most beneficial to you.

Capital one stopped waiving the annual fee after the first year (ymmv but they used to do it when the 2nd af hit when asked) so cancel or product change a month or so before your second af hits.
2 to 1 ratio point transfer to Airlines and no major airlines ? What is the deal about this card ? Chase Sapphire or United OR Amex are much better value... even Citi Cards offer more benefits for $95.
Can someone please explain why this card is getting so many Thumbs UP? really curious ? Thank you

Most are 2 to 1.5 (1000pts:750miles).
You can book major airlines through partners of their partner airlines.

I understand - I really thought this card was any good. Any credit card Chase, BOA, Citi, AMEX or all others 1:1 point to miles conversation but this one 2:1.5 ..
I also have 800++ score..... keep in mind that CC companies make the plurality of their money[fool.com] in interest charged to people that don't pay in full (e.g. people that are not you or I). For reference, in 2016, 39% of money was made from interest (not paying in full), 16% on cash advance, 8% in annual fees, 7.5% in penalties. That leaves 26% in interchange (what the merchants pay) and about 4% for enhancement which is shit like insurances they sell.
So, on you or I or any other person that pays in full, never gets a cash advance and doesn't buy their crap, the best case is that they are making interchange, but keep in mind there is an expense to this as well (or, liability) - rewards, to offset that.
If a merchant is paying 1-2% (it varies, plus there's a flat fee of 5-10 cents or so) but the CC company is giving back 1% of that to you, and since you're a good user (e.g. they won't be deleting your rewards), then you're frankly not that attractive of a customer - they're barely breaking even on you!
I'm in the market for a new CC after I discovered the CC I've been using for gas (5% back), the rewards expire which is a shit thing to do.
After Capital One pulled my credit they denied me the card.
They then offered me the same card but without any of the bonuses.
You have to watch out for bait and switch with this company. Capital One is one of the only banks I left years ago because I thought they sucked. It's good to see nothing has changed and they still suck.

Those 60K "miles" are only worth at most 45K actual miles, so kind of expensive with a $95 fee.
