MC has the Core i7-10700K [microcenter.com] for the exact same price, a Core i7-10700F for $219 [microcenter.com], and of course with the $20 mobo combo discount.

If the prices are the same across the board, I'd go with 10th gen for the newer chipset (e.g. USB 3.2 support and faster memory support).

Yes only if you have Z490. For someone who already have a Z370/Z390 mobo or don't want to spend a fortune on a Z490 mobo, this is the way to go. Z390 mobo tend to be cheaper, though I'm not sure right now with the tariff situation and such and if they are even still building new Z370/Z390 mobo.

Good deal for those still on z370 or z390. Definitely would buy this if I didn't just recently got the 5600x. O well intel you snooze you loose. Gaming performance is similar to 5600x but with higher power draw, hotter, and 2x more cores. Since this 249, this is cheaper than the 5600x and you don't have to spend $ on expensive mobo especially if you already have the mobo.

I don't think you can beat this for performance/$. It's a 2 year old chip now but its 8c16t for $250. I'm still rocking a 4670k, so I might finally have to upgrade.

I have 4670k too and it still runs Valorant fine..lol..I bought 5600x last week for $299 and got 10% off on Newegg (new account). May be worth spending extra $20 and go for AMD. Faster chip and better compatibility.

I can think of only a handful of games at extreme esports settings where 5600X would noticeably beat a 9900K. All other scenarios outside of the very much overrated efficiency trophy this CPU wins.
got a source for that?

cause it looks like the 5600x beats the 10 series intel in gaming on most benchamarks, so i doubt the 9900k is better in most if any.

regardless, cant beat this price to performance ratio on this mc deal, but the 5600x is still better at gaming overall.

They trade blows in gaming, depending on the title. Zen 3 is the undoubtedly superior overall, but not at these prices.

Really good deal for 9900k. Also 9700k back down to historic low's at $199.

It' too bad most z390 boards have been EOL according to major manufacturers. Most MB still available at retail channels will not be restocked once sold out.

Factoring in the current z490 and z590 board prices and the state of upcoming rocket lake gaming performance, this 9900k on the z390 platform is definitely my preferred intel based gaming platform :-)

Linking me to a review that seriously tests 480P resolution lol. Again, normal (read: 1080P, high detail or more) then they'll be a insignificant if any margin at all between the 9900K and 5600X. I suggest looking at Tech Deals review on YT where he looks at this exact scenario with MCE enabled on the 9900K vs. PBO on the 5600X.

that review has graphs for "480p Low, 1440p Low, 4K Low, 1080p Max"

To me, the reason to go with the 5600x, is just the fact that the mobo's can be cheaper for the amd.

Ryzen 5s excel in content creation area of work. When it comes to gaming, they are the same as intel in 1440p and 4k. Intel also include built-in graphics for those that don't need or can't get one right now. When buying based on gaming, there are no wrong decisions except the overpriced 5800x.
