I cant recommend these Brother Laser Printers enough! I have had mine (HL-2280DW) for eight years now and it still runs like a champ.

3rd party toner costs next to nothing and have never had a single issue with it. I swear it is going to outlive me at this rate.

Yeah this is only wired. It's the DW that's WiFi.

I got a couple of these new for $50 or $60 at Best Buy back in summer 2017. They work like champs & still going strong with no issues whatsoever.

From everything I can find, this model appears to be wired only. Are you sure that this works with 2.4 GHz?

Does this print from Chromebooks? My kids can't print from their school chromebooks to the old wired HL-2140. Also, I have dual-band router: does it mean both computer and the printer have to be connected to the 2.4GHz channel?
I haven't read through the 5 pages of comments so maybe someone already suggested it but you may be able to connect the printer via usb to your router to make it a wireless printer.

Only suggestion has been to connect it to a pi unit to make a print server

I guess printers haven't returned to pre-Covid pricing yet. I'll wait a couple more months.

Last printer I got was a new Brother multifunction laser with scanner and sheet feeder and Wifi for $79.99 about 2 months before Covid hit. $69.99 for a used Brother with no features doesn't seem slick for me.

Does anyone know the differences (besides the model #'s) between this printer and the refurb Brother HL-L2315DW that Wal-Mart sells for $69.99?

Piece of junk. We have a lot of these at work and always complaining of something or the other. Has no display. Brand new printers, always in error mode. Get a Canon mfp instead.
Here's a super better printer. You will thank me!

L2315DW - Built in wireless. LED display. Prints 24 ppm.

L2320D - No wireless. No LED display. Prints 30 ppm. Can add Raspberry Pi Zero W to add Wifi.

Both accept the cheapest (no chip needed) toner for the cheapest cost per page black & white printing (TN660).

Thank you.

Having wireless is a big deal if you have more than 1 computer in the house. I'm sticking w/ the one I just bought from WM.

Wireless is convenient when you also have your notebook on wireless. I keep my printer out of the way, in the other room.

If your router has a USB port, you can turn it into a network printer for all your devices.

how on earth is this a good deal.
I was able to get a wireless all in one brother DCP-L2550DW $20 more not to long ago
and this was a brand new printer not refurbished like this one

Because on earth, printer's demand has been high and supply has been low since covid hit and many people need printers working and schooling from home

And I suppose we are paying a premium due to supply shortages. This printer in new condition was cheap as 40$
I came to this thread to see if I was missing something. Just the usual high demand / low supply bubble due to the pandemic.

Looking at my email, I bought the Brother HL-2280DW (which also has a scanner in addition to being wireless) brand new in 2014 for $57.49. I got the Dell E310dw (which is made by Brother and uses Brother tone-r, but has more features than the one in this thread) for $49.99 in 2018. Both from Staples.

I guess if you need a printer this is good for now, but boy is it overpriced (in the grand scheme of things) for so few features and being a refurb. Time machine blah blah blah.
