These lifetime deals can sometimes work out well. For example, I got a lifetime of Windscribe when they were just starting out. They now have a pretty good reputation and they no longer offer lifetime. No idea about FastestVPN, though. Here's a review [techradar.com].

Personal anecdote: Speedtest shows I'm getting at least 80% to 90% of my usual download speed when I connect to the California server, which is pretty dang good for 15 bucks and more than enough for my torrenting needs!

Your milage may varies depends on how far you are from your server of choice, as well as your connection protocol. For the best download speed, go into the app settings and change it from the default IKEv2 to OpenVPN (UDP or TCP) before you connect!

Most of these VPN reviews seems to be paid or promoted and not sure if they can be trusted

The one on security.org did seem to be a bit gushing. The other two appeared to be more impartial.

I lucked out with Windscribe.. I may get this one for my son and roll the dice again. Interestingly, they keep mentioning "10 Users/devices".

If this is the case, then it may not be too bad as Windscribe specifically mentions that one can not share the account with others (supposedly, login from different IP addresses may cause account lock/ban).

I too lucked out with a Windscribe lifetime subscription. This is a decent price, so I'll give this a try for my family members.

Honestly, your best bet is to read the reviews posted earlier. That'll be a lot more thorough than the opinions of a few random SD'ers.

Yeah, plus no one's experience is going to be the same anyway.

This is especially true when people use different servers and protocols.

I can only say from personal experience that the connection to the California server through OpenVPN (TCP/UDP) is really good, but I wouldn't be surprised if somebody who try to connect to India or Russia would probably have wildly different experience than in the U.S.

I've been with FastestVPN for over a year now. I got this same deal last year. My speeds are faster than what I got with ExpressVPN, and of course it is much less expensive. The few times I had to contact them, they responded via email within 2 hours. Other than a couple of times that I couldn't connect due to maintenence being performed, they have been 100% solid. I am very very happy with them. This is a great deal.

Worst paid VPN I have ever used. Very slow connections to India and the Rest of Asia. Okay-ish connection to Canada and Europe.

I like Fastest VPN and it has worked really well on my coffee shop laptop. Since this is a lifetime deal, I'd pay the extra $5 for use on 5 devices.
