I'm not sure if this is a price mistake, but the cheapest I have found it elsewhere is $766 at an electrical wholesale supply. Most places have it for $900+.

Must be special ordered in store. I ordered mine last week and just picked it up today.

This is best used for a stand-by generator where your normal house service is rated 200 amps.

Will I need this for solar eventually? I'm thinking yes, I have a 200a service right now

No. Solar connects to the grid and works in conjunction with it through an inverter.

This is used to isolate from the grid while using a generator so as to not back feed the utility.

NM, I see the OP's is a double-throw.

Speaking of solar, could people who sell unused power back to the Utilities have made big bucks during the huge price spike by running a generator 24/7? Assuming one had that type of plan on a fluctuating price plan.

I would be doing micro inverters. Pretty sure utility will require a complete disconnect.

The NEC will require a disconnect (690.13). But a single throw switch.

The switch in the OP (double throw) is to prevent two sources (utility and generator) from ever interacting with each other. You wouldn't want it for solar where the utility and your inverters are closed in together.

I sent it to my prodesk guy. If its legit, this is important to me. I'm someone who's gas source is the opposite side of my house from the meter/main. This will allow me to same a ton on installing a standby genny.

I have micro inverters but they still tie into an inverter that then ties into my panel.

Just drove over to my local Lowes and they said it's not available for purchase even on special order. Am I the idiot or them? They said it doesn't even show up in their system. I can see it on brickseek though.
