FYI - insurgency is fun. but be aware it takes a lot of space, currently taking up like 300+ GB on my drive. i think because some servers have custom stuff to download.
I have humankind on pre-order and played the dev beta. There is promise there, but it's not a civ killer. Even after playing humankind, i still want to take another turn on civ. There's room for more 4x games though, so do take a look at humankind. It's more of a refined endless legend.
If you're going to play Insurgency, I recommend going into the settings and muting the voice chat unless you like hearing young men scream racial slurs.
Is that Civ VI platinum edition basically 'everything' needed for it?
It's not everything ever made for it. It is a whole lot of content, and certainly all you'll need to play most of the time including with other players.

yeah. It was enough to allow me to play with my Civ 6 playing gaming buddies though, which is what I was mainly worried about.
YMMV, but for me in addition to all those new extras it has brought multiple game crashes despite me contacting 2K as well as posting about them on various game fora. Still, if you can live with crashes and restarts (just set Autosave for every turn) there is a lot of good stuff in the New Frontier Pass. The Pass is winding down though now and no one knows what will happen next. More new game content? Civilization 7?
That's strange. I thought when they released new content everyone got the same update. I can't recall Civ 6 ever crashing. It's cool they keep making stuff but I don't want to pay $30 on top of the 2 expansions plus I think another $10 for another pack. And now I'm split between Steam and Epic where most deals on expansions and my paid base game are on Steam but my 2 main expansion packs and free base game are on Epic.
Also, Overcooked 2 looks like a fun game if you have some friends to play it with.
