Photosync is basically a small piece of software you install on your server or any computer/laptop in your home network. Then for each device you want photos backed up from, you install an app. I use it on my Android and my wife's iPhone.
The software will automatically back up any new pictures that are on your phone (including camera gallery, whatsapp, MMS, screenshots, anything!) to the server. You can set parameters on when backups are done. I set it to backup anytime the phone is connected to Wifi and a power plug. You can also set it up to backup whenever the phone enters your home network, e.g. when you return home.
You can also choose to backup to Amazon cloud, Google drive, dropbox, or a bunch of other cloud services. You can use FTP, WebDAV, pretty much anything.
One last thing is that the author is very nice and responds directly to your emails. I have emailed him twice in the last few years and he worked me through fixes.
I would recommend Photosync highly. Mine is set up on my home server. Photosync sends pics to that server. Then a Synology device backs up the server. Family pictures are important to me -- I want a backup of a backup.

ibi app failed at the "hit a snag" error when it attempted to add the user to the device. i kept trying like almost 10 times, until it worked. but it wasnt a smooth ride.
why did the app ask for my phone location?
however, on the pc explorer, they are all under 1 single root "backup" folder. i cant find them organized in folders and directories like its on the app. its a pain to view them with a slow windows 10 index connected to this device via drive mapping. its very hard to organize them now using my explorer. any better way?
5g wifi connection is out of our expectation. a great (new) feature to have

took me like 10 tries to get it connected. it kept saying "we hit the snag..." and failed to connect the ibi. its the very last step. so even if you see the device has been found, connected. its not really working until you pass the "add your account to the device". this is where it fails. so if you pass that msg. its final and ready.
how can we ajust the sync setting? can we delete the photo on phones after its done syncing to save space? what if the ibi syncs back to the phone and empty all our folders because we already deleted the photos on the phones.
All the pics from one phone goes in its respective directory based on the phone name (prob if it can't find it, it will go into a generic directory - backup?). It's just a backup mechanism so don't expect much. It works great once you get it set up. I opened my box and was set up in a few minutes. I spend time debugging why mine was DOA (bad adapter).
Oh not only does it support 5G wifi, but it supports 80G "ac" wifi. I had that turned off on my router since I have no device that uses it, but I will give it a go with the ibi.
I have reached out to support.
This is pretty much the most frustrating setup of a consumer product I have dealt with in some time.

Coincidentally it also made devices on my Nest WiFi network unresponsive, can't prove it was the ibi but hell of a coincidence.
I'm happy to say that after a few days of that, and rebooting my router a few times, everything has been stable. This isn't my ideal solution, but it's worth $40 for another backup solution and a 1tb drive. Bought a second from western digital and plan to give it to my parents...
not for long, now the app cant even see my ibi anymore, despite of closing the app, restarting my phone, soft reset (pinhole)...
i think its all about the buggy app, not user error like i used to think it was.

I have a 2nd one I have yet to set up. I should set it up soon to make sure it's not doa. So many issues with these it seems. Maybe I got at least one good one? Well my ac adapter was doa so I really can't say that. I'm worried that adapter may fail again (I got it working by slamming it on a wood block).

there must be an easy way to re-connect the ibi to a different network. i could get it to work the first couple tries. not the app cant see it anymore.
