Chase changed the rules a while back, and now you can only have one. You would need to PC your CSR before you could get a CSP.
Aw, ok. Thank you for the help!

My experience today in Northern California for the Chase sapphire preferred card

1) Walked into my local Chase branch
2) Ask to make appointment
3) I was told I didn't need appointment come on back to the office right now
4) I only had my driver's license I thought I needed two IDs but the gentleman told me all I needed was a driver's and a additional credit card.
5) I asked if the $95 a year fee was waived in the first year, I was told YES
6) Checked about the 80,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months, YES
7) Checked about the $50 in statement credits towards grocery store purchases, YES
8) I applied and was approved
9) I was told it would take from 7 to 10 days to to get the new cards, I asked to have that expedited and that was approved I will have the new cards in 1 - 2 days.
10)The whole process took me 20 minutes.

Thank you OP

Per Doctor of Credit, this is not someone offering courtesy because one is nice. If you apply in the branch, the annual fee is waived. Period.

Not true. My AF was not waived in branch upon asking. This could be account or branch specific. Maybe if you are a big spender and carry a balance they waive it? Our household never has luck with retention credits or waived fees, but we pay our balances in full each month. Maybe that makes a difference?

I just came back from doing it and it was actually shown on the credit card screen on the banker's computer before we started the application process. $0 first year, $95 annual fee.

I don't know what else to say. It worked for you, it didn't for me. It's not like I could tell the Chase banker "Slickdeals told me the AF should be waived" after he said no. I'll happily take the 80k points alone to transfer to partner's Reserve and $50 grocery credit. Waived $95 fee would have been nice, but no dice for me.

Have you actually already been charged the fee? Or are you just going based on what the banker told you? Don't count out the possibility that he was mistaken, unless you've already got a $95 charge posted.

Honestly slick deals is more informed than anyone I've spoken to at Chase. My banker didn't even know about this offer until I asked them to specifically check for it. I had to call into chase as well and they were absolutely insistent the annual fee is never waived, they put me on hold and then came back to me saying oh yeah it's waived lol.

The fee will charge in April. For anyone curious, I also had reached out to Chase via secure message after the fact. They confirmed the fee. If it doesn't post, I'll welcome it as a nice surprise. Good luck to all.

Should P1 get the Preferred and P2 get the Reserve and then transfer all points to the Reserve?

I really don't understand how Chase system works. What if you just application for the account as a guest without logging into your account in the branch? Don't they allow you to apply for the card if you don't have relationship with them now?

I think that depends on usage goals, and whether or not the benefits will be utilized by you. Im personally waiting to see if Chase will update the referral link to show 80k points, and i will have my wifes account "refer" me and we can both have a CSP.

It's all about locations and bankers. Like expeditions for the card normally the bank will charge you fees if you are normal account.
