So, it's 48 months from the date of last bonus irrespective of for how long I kept that card afterwards?
Here is my previous timeline:
  • Applied and approved for card: May 15, 2017
  • Bonus points posted/received on: July 25, 2017
  • Account changed to different card on: May 15, 2018
When do I complete my 48 months?

I wish I had known about the annual fee waving in-store before I applied online, they just opened a branch right near my house! I guess I'll try going there and begging. Maybe they'll make an exception for me.
Did this work? I applied online too smh.

I imagine they can tell you in branch based on prior posts. I received my last bonus around January 2017 and applied this month and was fine.

When do I complete my 48 months?

48 months from July 25 2017.

Possibly 48 months from the closing statement date on the statement those points posted.

Either way you wouldn't be past 48 months before July, or possibly sometime in August.

When you opened, closed, or product changed, is totally irrelevant.

I tried to apply in branch today, and they said they can't waive the annual fee. This was prior to them even opening up the application. I'm assuming they're just clueless? --and that if they open up the application, it will state that the first annual fee is waived?

Guys ..I downgraded my regular Sapphire to Freedom Unlimited do I can jump in on this deal. I have to wait 5 days before heading to a local branch. Is that 5 days from the day I activated my Freedom Unlimited card or 5 days from when I spoke to the csr agent on the phone regarding the switching to Freedom Unlimited? Thanks!
any update on this? I just downgraded to a freedom as well so I can get the Preferred offer. When will the systems clear so that we can apply?

I've downgraded my Reserve to a Freedom, other than just waiting for the 5 days people mentioned before, are there any other way to test that my account/profile is updated and ready for me to apply for another Sapphire card?

TIA

Probably a dumb question but if you already have the chase sapphire reserve can you apply for the preferred and still get the 80k bonus on 4k spend?

No.

You can't open a new sapphire card if you already have any sapphire card.

According to some SDers, we have to wait 5 days. I'll just assume that the 5 days waiting period starts when I activated the new Freedom Unlimited card.

It should be the only CSP offer at the branch -- they probably don't know about waived AF (should up in the offer terms when they read/show them to you)

Just ask for 80k Sapphire Preferred offer and apply -- you'll get 80k bonus + $50 grocery credit + waived AF 1st year

The only problem people reported is that if you had the card in the past then it might not show up in their system for you to apply -- that should be fixed by next week according to others

I would have asked again or tried another branch. I went into a branch today to apply. I said I'm wanting to apply for a card and I heard the annual fee is waived in branch. The rep already knew the card I was applying for and said chase sapphire preferred? Took 10 mins total max to be in and out

Any chance this 80k offer or better comes out for the CSR? The pay yourself back conversion is higher...

No. They already upped the CSR to 60K. Your best bet would be to get the CSP and then product change to the CSR before PYB ends.

Is there a way to get your chase sapphire preferred card number immediately? Have a $5K purchase on the 23rd

Nope, but you can call and have it expedited after you're approved.
