Just paid for 4 flights to Hawaii with points from this card. I've had it awhile and have used points for various things from hotels, flights and even paying down my credit card with a 25% point value increase. I always pay my monthly balance and have never paid a dime of interest, so it's all free stuff.

Is it worth keeping after the bonus kicks in? From what I understand it is 2 points back from restaurants and travel purchase + 25% (bonus redemption). So, it is basically 2.5%.

Costco and WF propel offer 3% on travel and food. Plus many other benefits. What am I missing?
You're right in that after the bonus kicks in, it's a pretty mediocre card. However, the advantage over these other cards is being able to transfer points between Chase Cards. This means if I have a Chase Freedom Unlimited for instance, which earns 1.5% on all purchases, and 3% on restaurants, if I transfer them to my Sapphire Preferred account, I get 1.875% and 3.75% back respectively. If you were to upgrade to a Reserve, which enables you to redeem points at 1.5x its value, the rewards are boosted to 2.25 % and 4.5%, which beats most cards on the market.

Thanks for explaining. It makes sense!

It depends on when was the last time you got the bonus - not when you closed the account. You need to wait 48months after your bonus got posted on your account.

It's not worth keeping after the bonus.

There's 2 routes after 1 year:

If you are someone who travels significantly, upgrade to the CSR. If offers 3x in those categories, plus a slew of other travel related benefits and credits, and still allows point transfers (which free chase cards do not) that help maximize travel value of these points.

If you do not travel significantly then downgrade to a no annual fee card.

Your logic makes no sense.

CSR: 100K points for $595 annual fee

CSP: 80K points + $50 cash back: $95 annual fee (waived) if applied at branch.

It doesn't take rocket science to figure this one out.

Is the he fee waived for the life of the card if applied at branch or just the first year?

Check out The Points Guy website. He values Chase Ultimate Reward Points at 2 cent per point, so 2pt x 2 cent ea = 4 cents value, plus 25% bonus =5 cent value, vs a straight 3 cents Costco.

Yes, having a Freedom shouldn't affect your ability to get a Sapphire card and bonus.

Correct. Eligible as long as you haven't had any chase sapphire bonus within 4 years and you currently can't have any other chase sapphire card.

Once you apply. Transfer your chase freedom points to this card. Will be worth more.

His site is BS points value. He inflates the value so people apply the card through his links and he can make good referral commissions.

The max value of Chase Ultimate Rewards is 1.25 cents per points, period.

If I did this offer, I need to unfreeze my credit. Does anyone know which credit agency Chase uses to run the hard pull?
