Does 48 month rule apply to date card was opened or date points were awarded?
I've always heard it's from when you get the bonus. So I waited 4 years and 4 months from from when I opened the account because I knew I had to meet the spend requirement before 3 months and it could take a month before they were awarded. Assuming it goes from after you spend the $4k, which could take a couple months, so I should be good. Fingers crossed.

Is there a way to get the 25% more cash back $1000 other than the rotating categories in Chase Ultimate Rewards program? I'd like to get the full $1000 rather than just $800 but I don't want to goof up and have something not qualify.

Transfered some points i had on my wife's Ultimate freedom card and was able to book a $300 room from Hyatt for 15,000 points. Card already paid for itself in my opinion!

Chase will deny you if you've received 5 new cards in the last 24 months. If you only had 4 and they denied you based on the number of cards you have, you may want to call to request reconsideration.

Correct. Just ask for the gift cards, my mall makes me fill out paperwork when buying the large balance gift cards. Never had an issue though. I would make sure the credit card has some other purchases on it before you go an ring it up for $4000....
Do the Simon gift cards work like prepaid credit cards? I'm about to get braces and I dont think I want to pay 4k up front because what if I relocate or doesn't like the orthodontist down the road? I would rather pay about 1k up front and a set monthly payment using a prepaid credit card instead. Thanks in advance for the reply!

Correct, you can use them where Visa's are accepted. I am not sure you can put a reoccurring charge to the cards though. Spend the money at your dentist, Costco, Walmart, you name it.

It is like a $3.50 purchase fee per card, so $4,000 in cards, $14. Assuming you get 4x$1,000.

I do not know of any other fees, I usually spend the cards ASAP so I do not lose them.

No idea, I go to the local Simon owned mall. If you dont have one near you, you might be out of luck. You can do this with regular Visa gift cards. Simon is good because they sell $1,000 cards so you can keep you transaction costs down.

So I found something interesting on the Simon's gift cards agreement site here: https://simon.giftcardmall.com/pa...-agreement
It states that the prepaid gift cards cannot be " (5) used for purchases where recurring payments may occur, such as subscriptions, memberships, rentals, etc." So this might not work in my case. But in the agreement it also states that "If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the card, save your receipt, and cancel the card by calling customer service and requesting a refund check."
Hmmm...what if I buy the gift cards but dont use them and request refund checks instead? Then I can deposit the checks into my bank account. Also, is there a max limit per gift card? On their website there is a $500 max amount for the Visa card and $250 for their Mastercard.

I have always bought $1,000, pretty painless. You do have to fill out some forms when you purchase large denomination cards. At least at my Simon. I am sure that return method you noted has been well exploited by now. Might work...

I applied at the branch and by default, it takes about 5 business days to get the card in your hands. You can ask the customer service agent to do a rush shipping like I did. But he couldn't do that so I had to wait for about a week. Others in this thread had said that they were able to get their cards expedited to them.
