1) Effective rating. Masks, especially this grade of mask, are not near 100% effective. Even when worn as instructed.
2) Human Error. If they are not worn properly and are not sufficiently tight against the skin, than they will not preform at their maximum effectiveness. Factors like facial hair greatly decrease the ability of masks to seat properly.
3) Non-compliance. Be it partial non-compliance such as having the mask over the mouth but not the nose, having the mask below the chin, or simply not wearing a mask at all. All of these have a massive effect on transmission.
These and many more factors lead to disease transmission. There have been demonstrable decreases in transmission with mask use, but even if we were all perfectly using n95 rated gas masks, it wouldn't cut transmission by 100%.
Despite the great immunity of your family and everyone you know, here is a report on excess deaths in 2020:
