Zwilling J.A Henckles 7-Piece Four Star Self-Sharpening Knife Block & Knife Set
These are well-reviewed knives (NOT the international Henckles brand) with a self-sharpening block. The Four Star series is not the highest-end line, but it is the overall most popular Zwilling line.
This is $90 cheaper than the same item on the Zwilling website, which is now sold out. Is the same price as the recently expired 8-Piece Zwilling Four Star Anniversary Knife Block Set deal that was posted here (the 7-piece does not include the honing steel due to the self-sharpening block).

Note: some people have concerns over the self-sharpening features reducing the lifespan of the knives. I do not know enough about knives to provide input, but here is what Zwilling said in response to that concern:
"The self-sharpening feature very lightly refines the edges on each use- no more than you would with a sharpening steel, so this will not significantly affect the lifespan of the knives. They will still need more thorough sharpening over time."

The self sharpening block is decent enough to cut most things easily. Meat cuts pretty well into cubes and I can get a above average tomato slice.

The set you got from Costco probably had the "single man" logo = made in China not so good. The "two man" logo = higher quality and usually made in Germany. Not the same thing as found in Costco. I have made that mistake before too.
