Great price. Bought one from dwr last year. If you are looking for the classic look, you will need to purchase the black MCL leather from dwr. If you're also over 6ft tall, you need the tall version. This is the full grain leather, standard height
It's an iconic chair that is obscenely expensive for what it is. I bought mine lightly used off craigslist for 2250. I recommend shopping around first.

I still feel regret for spending that much lol.
Sales man slaps chair, "Molded Plywood Technology."

If you are getting a stimulus check, this chair is not for you.

I was about to max out my last credit card with available balance for this but then I saw this product can expose me to Wood Dust, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Unless they make an all metal version of this chair I won't be able to buy it.
Nope. California also says metal causes cancer.

Hilarious whenever a high end item comes on sale and deal bashers come out of the woodwork. Like they would actually be the intended buyers. Same with those A5 wagyu haters.

The point is there's value to those who would purchase it, regardless of what the price, as long as it's cheaper than normal. People have no problem with a screaming slick deal if a PS5 was 20%-30% off MSRP, but expensive furniture? Whoa, now, think of the money you're spending /s

Is there some place you can actually try these out in person? I'm really curious what one feels like to sit in, but I've never found a furniture store that has them or anything like them.
I'm so tempted! I've sat in a real one at Design Within Reach and it was heaven! More comfortable than my bed. My body went into sleep mode.

My issue isn't with the price. It's the fact that it looks like garbage to me. I don't mind paying for quality, but I'm not going to pay for overhyped garbage based on a name brand.

To me, this is like that Supreme brand. They could spray the Supreme logo on a Walmart disposable plastic shopping bag, and people would fall all over each other trying to pay $1000 for one.

Then again, I live in North Carolina (grew up near High Point), so I'm a bit of a furniture snob.

Molded plywood? I can get designer ones cut from hardwood for the same price - albeit without all the bells and whistles

Right - but you are coming into this thread and sharing your opinion that the product is ugly. You are discussing the product like an adult. You are not the problem.

The problem is the other ~50% of people in this thread who just post about how they "bought 4 for their cats" or "will spend their family's stimulus checks on it" or any of a hundred other tired "jokes," just because they can't wrap their tiny brains around the concept that just because THEY aren't in the market for something, it doesn't mean OTHER PEOPLE aren't. And, what a shocker, when you check their post histories, none of them have contributed much of anything useful to other threads, either.

Threads like this are the the reason why the 'ignore user' function exists.

OP - thanks for the post. I don't have room for another chair right now or I'd be thinking long and hard about this one. nod

We have one of these... but ours is a hand me down and is like 35+ years old and the leather is in REALLY BAD shape. I hate it and my wife loves it.

I don't think anyone has actually sat in the thing for over ten years and it is kept in our loft and collects dust... but my wife says it is worth thousands and it comes from her relatives so she does not want to get rid of it.

I don't know anyone who's car battery dies after 2 years. Most of my car battery last 5-6 years and replacement is roughly $100-150.
I wouldn't call someone buying a Tesla a schmuck either but it's definitely not an investment nor a savings when buying a Tesla. Don't kid yourself, you're not saving the planet by buying a Tesla, if anything you're be causing a future problem (lithium-ion battery waste).

This Eames lounge chair is an awesome chair but it's expensive and out of reach for most. The price is reasonable considering their value does not depreciate much. My friend brought a set over 10 years ago at a DWR outlet for $2500 and I thought he was crazy. Back then a brand new set cost roughly $4500. Considering they are hand build and limit production, they can be a good investment for a furniture.
I believe the average is 2-5 years. if it suits your life and you like not having to fill up at gas stations, go for it. As far as these chairs, I could care less. They look nice and are probably comfortable but the only thing i'd buy them for is to check off "spending $4500 on a chair" from my bucket list and to brag to friends that I have the chair that House from House MD, died in after inducing an insulin OD.

I'm going to go on a limb and say Herman Miller is a pretty legit producer of quality furniture. As for Supreme...
