If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Make sure you double check that the SE is really free, the only promo I see for it is for 50% off.
I did. I confirmed with them a few times.

What exactly are people using these "free" lines for? If you have several "free" lines which you are not using for anything and you're paying tax on those lines then its really not a good deal.
The free line are not costing me anything right now. Tmo One plan is all inclusive. My plan cost actually went down after "Line on US 4" due to plan changes etc. after kick back i'm playing like $55 for 10 lines.

I'm sure others have asked this question but I'm on mobile and it's hard to find an answer. Does Google voice work for the ported number? It did with the free line + iPhone 11 pro deal last year but I want to make sure it works again this time.
One person reported they are not anymore

Just got my 5th line free added. I added the pixel 4a 5g promotion on it also for $7.30 a month after bill credits.
Didn't you still have to pay $175?

That's what I thought and now hearing different thing via chat, i.e. max lines I can have is 12... Please update, how it goes adding 9th line. I am on TMO FRLTULF2 and currently have 8 lines...

Also, any deals at Costco for BYOD?

Update: I just checked with TM on Twitter and they said I am I'm on TM One plan can have 12 lines and next question she asked without me telling anything, is are we adding a free line today to your account?
Love it, that's the spirit.

You cannot really confirm given you need to trade in a phone etc. and it takes time. But worked for prior deals. So as long as you get a line, port-in an eligible number and trade in an eligible phone you should be good.

best time was few days ago. that's when you add 2 get 3rd free. Today will get another free line.

Last year I added 4 lines when they offered free line. I got 2 paid lines and 2 free lines. So you can try today. You might get lucky.

I would recommend getting the line, in 9 months port one of your paid lines to google or elsewhere and then after 3 months call T-Mobile to port your number over to your free line.

negative, dont do this. I think you have to keep paid lines active 12 months after getting free line.
