If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

If you add a line by yourself online, does the promo automatically apply if your plan is eligible? Does anyone know?
Yes it does. You usually get a text once the SIM ships and then it shows on your account. Sometimes it takes a few days depending on your billing cycle. You may only see it after the bill closes. But you can do it yourself. $10 for the SIM and no activation/support fee.

I've asked a few months ago but those promos require brand new lines (or ported from a different carrier) I believe, you can't do a TOL of a line from an existing account to be one of the lines. I mean you could have gotten 4 brand new lines (2 + 2 free) and then do a TOL of the line(s) from the existing account. You just can't move lines from an existing t-mobile account as any of those lines
That's why I said as a new customer, meaning new social/phone#/new lines

so... does this mean that you have to wait 1 year after your latest free line, or 1 year from the time you added the free line with with you want to replace a paid line? Like, does it follow FIFO, or LIFO?

For example, if I added a free line back in early 2020, plus all the other free ones including this one in 2021, can I get rid of a paid line in early 2021, referencing that first free line I added in early 2020? Sorry for confusion. Just want to be clear Smilie
My understanding is that this is LIFO.

This was almost a best-case scenario for me after adding the BOGO and 2 x $300 BYOD earlier this month. I can still cancel one of my paid lines after 1 year in order to get my paid lines back to the same number I had before the BOGO and still make a little money.

On another note, I added a line today, and I asked about my account, assuming that I had an 8-line limit (SOC MAGENTA2 on Magenta 1.0). The rep said that I can have up to 15 lines on this account, with up to 12 lines before needing a credit check. Does that sound right? I thought it was the MAGENTA9 that went over 8 lines.

My guess is they will move you over to magenta9 if you do add a new line.

$10 sim fee $20 assist fee. its correct. do it yourself just $10 by adding the line from your acct.
So if my SOC is in the list, add the line online, I'll automatically get free line credit? Cause it's not showing in my cart/final checkout page.(showing 20/month voice line charge) I looked every posts but couldn't find the answer. Thank you for reading.

What's the price difference between the two? I also have 10SCFM4.
10SCFM4 and NAFUTT4 are very similar plans. They both are $120/month for 4 lines as the base rate before any discounts or referral codes. They both use 10GB per line initially as the monthly data, but have since been grandfathered to Unlimited data. They also have 10GB mobile hotspot before throttling occurs. The main difference is NAFUTT4 seems to qualify for all these free line deals.

So when adding the line, actually click BYOD? If adding a line and porting a number? Otherwise, it seems to force us down the Buy a device pathway, but the free Iphone SE on Tmobile is not showing online yet...

I got one added through chat. I just asked about the status of a current order and they told me about the free line. So can I use this in my T9 hotspot? I read there may be a way to change the IMEI or something

Thanks!
The wording I see online is "add a person".
Is that the same thing as add a line, or is there a separate link for that?
Thanks again!
