If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

So are you saying I should go ahead with $15/mo ? and I will get credit ? will the online process show any confirmation that I am enrolling in this free plan. I went all the way to check out but does not say anywhere that I am enrolling in this promotion or I will receive credit..
You don't get a notification for the free line, rep told me it takes 1-2 billing cycles to go through and to ignore the monthly price. Mine showed $40 with my plan. Just be sure to add new device > phone > bring your own device. It only applies to voice lines, not data lines.

Added the line today via phone. Got the Assisted support fee waived, but couldnt get the $10 sim card waived. Should've done my research in advance, as I am now planning to get the Iphone SE with trade-in, which itself will comes with a SIM card (just make sure to get shipping waived)

I had SOC code FRLTULMF2, already maxed to eight lines (six paid, two free from AAL 3/4).
Attempt 1 w/ Twitter 3/16 - total no-go. Wanted me to move to Magenta.
Attempt 2 w/ Twitter 3/17 - Said they could do it, but the wait time between responses was glacially slow.
Attempt 3 w/ phone call 3/17 - success! The rep had to get her senior expert to do it, but she had no issue doing whatever was required to make things work. Got moved to FRLTULMF9.

Confirmed the SOC code change happened instantly. However, I have to wait a week for the sim card to get here. The eSIM in the Pixel 3a wont work (but for some reason works with the 4a)

I'm my case that's absolutely not true. It's not a financial hit for me to pay off the rest of the phone at once if I decided that I needed to leave to a new carrier. It may be for some.

Point is, I'll take a 0% over 24 months on a device over a 2 year commitment with cancellation penalty any day, and the two are not in the same ballpark.
I guess we just disagree on some of this, no worries.

I am curious however about how it is not a financial hit if you pay off the rest of the phone at once and leave to a new carrier?

I guess maybe if there is only a few monthly credits remaining out of 24, that would not be a huge hit. Otherwise, how is it not? What am I missing?

That offer worked and after that one ended, they changed the terms and they no longer worked and you'll get denied.
So what will get denied? that $150 rebate card right? Not the "Free Line" correct?
Worth a shot I think. The worst case is you won't get the $150 rebate card but the line surely stay free !
BTW, where is it mentioned that it can't be combined? On the Costco offer page right? Not on the T-Mo promo page correct?

Just a heads up but I just contacted T-Mobile on Twitter and they said my SOC plan didn't qualify this time even though I see it on the screenshot provided in the original post.

I'm always nervous when changing account details. If what they tell me is true, I went from T-Mobile ONE Plus promo with 3 lines for $80 a month to normal T-Mobile ONE with 4 lines for $96 per month. Ported in FreedomPop number to take advantage of the free iPhone SE. Supposedly everything about the 3 lines I had will stay the same and the 4th line with just have 3G hotspot instead of the 10gb high speed hotspot that the other ones will keep.

if you have no need for another line, any benefit? I would love to get one and then drop one of my paid lines, but then it seems you cannot use that same number from the cancelled line, which is a big bummer.
Why not? Just swap it over

So this promo says "2021 Line On Us 6". Was there a 5? Last post I see was for line on us 4.
LOU 5 was the BOGO line promo that I believe expired yesterday.

I use the free line as my Android Auto/gym phone so I can keep my monthly $10 kickback. It's also nice having a spare line to use as my marketing calls line.

So they had to move you to different SOC? I am on same SOC, and being told by three different reps on Twitter, that my plan max is 12, even though SOC ends with 2. I have many promos including kickbacks, free lines, hookup discount and One plus promos on most lines. Did you have all these promos and did they carry over correctly?
BTW- SE doesn't require trade-in, however you have to port-in non TM/GV number.

Not sure why you quoted me since my question was directed to someone else, and has absolutely nothing to do with your situation. Sorry if that sounds snarky, I sincerely don't mean it that way. However, my conversation was with someone else about something completely different.

Fyi, I have simple choice plan. They said it has a limit of 5 total lines (which I'm currently at 5), so the code can only add more lines if I changed to new plan....so if you have 5 lines on a simple choice plan already, don't bother calling

Yup !
T-Force told me the same thing, Boost is not allowed since it uses T-Mo network.
