If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years.
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Rep is wrong. It's 50% off or Free if you do a port-in.

Just added a line at Costco. They also gave me a $150 rebate form for BYOD. Rebate form says starting from 17th ending 18th.

Here is my current scenario:
Line 1 & 2: Paid
Line 3: Free (3rd line free promo from before)
Line 4 to 6: Free (free line promos in 2020)
Line 7: Paid (recent costco $300 deal for byod)
Line 8: Free (buy one get one with the costco deal)

I do plan to cancel lines 7 and 8 once I receive the costco shop card. Is it worth adding this new free line? Will it affect my ability to cancel line 7 and 8? I am hoping none of these affect my discounts on lines 1 to 6.
You are risking lines 4 - 6 by cancelling 7 and 8. As the op said, "You must maintain all the lines you have now + the free one for 12 months to keep the free line credits". Ideally, that means you should be able to cancel 7 and 8 without affecting lines 4 - 6, but if there is a glitch or the actual requirement is no line cancellations for 12 months, then you are in for a long fight. Is that really worth it?

Some help here, I might be confused. I review my SOC and I should be elegible, but when I try to add a new line on t-mobile.com it say:

DUE MONTHLY
$ 40 00
Additional line on Simple Choice Promo
 Plus taxes and fees.

Does it means I will have to pay the $40, and it will not be free?

Are you sure google voice port can be used for the free iphone SE?

Doing a search of this thread, some people were denied and some were approved. It seems to be on a case-by-case basis. I gave the rep my phone number, the account number (phone number), my pin and she ran a check and said it would work. I didn't even mention it was a Google Voice number.

I couldn't do it online either. I chatted with them over the app and mentioned the promotion. They checked and said my account allows it. Try that.

Thanks for the reply. After catching up to 40 pages and getting a headache, I see one post similar to my situation. It seems like I have the same plan as mprabs, but instead, I'll wait 1 year to cancel line 7 - will that affect the free line 8? If I can't cancel line 7 since it's "tied" to line 8, can I cancel the (paid) line 2, making (paid) line 1 and 7 as the required 2 paid lines for insider discount and free lines?

I'm debating switching my Magenta 1.0 to the New Magenta (which everything should stay the same - free lines, costs), but I read that having 9 lines would move me to Magenta9 (?) anyway AND actually making the total cost low? If so, then I won't need to cancel line 7 after a year...

If you do qualify, I believe it's normal for it to say all that stuff. Since you're enrolling during the promo period you will end up receiving the free line. Again, if you qualify (double check with a rep if you'd like) the line should be free regardless what the check out says.

Thanks. What's the break down of the plan? 9/$270 w/$30 AAL? Do you have One Plus? What is the SOC for free One Plus? I wonder if I can get them.
One Plus Promo was a free line add-on for T-Mobile One plans. It doesn't exist on Magenta plans. If you have it on other lines some reps might add it for you but I might need some rep roulette.

The SOC is TM1PROMO

Again, this is not a plan but an add-on.

Also a comment regarding all the Google Voice ports.

You can port in numbers from Google Voice without the problem to bring a number over.

But the Google Voice system is blacklisted for port-in promos.

So you won't have problems to port in your number from Google Voice but there is a risk that the device promo will drop within 2 billing cycles.

It might work or not. You will see.
