As said, you can always transfer a GV number, it might not qualify for the promo though. But, for example, if the system gives you a 628 area code number and you'd rather have a 415, GV might still have 415 numbers to grab and then replace the 628.

For a promo like $100 BYOD I might risk trying a GV port, for something like the $830 trade-in combo I would rather use a real ATT/Verizon number.

It seems to me that grabbing a Freedompop SIM from Target etc. and activating an ATT or Verizon number and then porting it may be the safest route, but potentially too slow. I ill grab a SIM and activate one for the next event in a few months "jut in case". Big Grin
How long does it take to port out? I activated the sim a few hours ago and sent an email asking for account/pin. I'm about to order the SE and would guess it'll take a few days to arrive. Should I wait to pull the trigger?

Has anyone posted an end date for the free line promo?

Got a $1 h2o sim card at best buy and picked the $10 plan. Customer service provided a pin to port out.
I ordered the iphone se combined with free line .

Will try porting process when iphone gets here
There is a requirement to be active for at least 5 days on H2O and then you can port out.
https://www.h2owireless.com/terms-conditions

You must have an active H2O account to port your phone number to or from H2O. Your account must be active for a minimum of five (5) days before requests to port your number from H2O to another service provider are fulfilled.

-should turn on
-no screen cracks
-no water damage
These are clearly documented by them

Most folks are either going for SE (no trade-in needed) or iPhon-12 where you need to trade-in an old phone.
iPhone-8 falls in the top tier ($830 trade-in value) so you can buy used one for cheap on ebay or whatever and trade it in.
I am trading in my daughter's old iPhone-6 which has only $380 trade-in value but this is probably my last chance to trade-in iPhone-6 so I want to get rid of it ASAP...LOL

Got it, thanks for the info.

Is it too late if I opened up the free line without one of those promos? ie. do I need to do the promo at the time of opening the line?

T-mobile asks me to call to "help transferring" a ported number. Has anyone got a message like this before? What's it that they need? Thanks

It means something went wrong with the port in. I got this message because my numberbarn account zip code didn't match my tmobile account zip code. Easy fix.

I got it on Ebay, hopefully it's something can be fixed on my end. So did you have to go to your numberbarn account to change zip code? Thanks

Not necessary.
I opened the free line in Costco and then came home and chatted with T-Force (FB Messenger) to put all promos in place including the porting-in.
They said if I order iPhone-12 (i.e. "upgrade" the device on the new free line) then they will have to charge $20 upgrade fees which I can avoid by upgrading it online, so I did the upgrade online and confirmed with them if everything looks good (e.g. free line, port-in and trade-in promo applied).
The only minor issue is, the Visible # which is bought from here on SD and ported-in for that iPhone-12 promo is from CA and I am in TX...lol
I hope my daughter won't mind the CA number once she starts going to middle school from Aug...;-)
BTW, does it matter if the # is from CA and we are using in TX? Any cons?

I asked rep difference between FRLTULFM9 or TIULFM9, and he said TIULFM9 is nine lines max, whereas FRLTULFM9 is 12 lines max. I don't know if's totally accurate, but he switched me to FRLTULFM9 without any fuss.
Your rep is wrong. Both FRLTULFM9 or TIULFM9 are 9-12 lines.

You might be able to open a Google Voice number to get the TX area code you desire. Then port that number over top of your CA #. I've never did this but I think I read about it in the past. Double check with T force

How much is a S20 FE worth these days? Worth it to trade that in for the free iPhone 12?

Pls let people know what your plan is , the plan detail including tax and fees and how much you pay monthly for how many lines! Lot of the people that keep adding free lines pay a lot on their plan and very weak plan like very limited data or hotspot etc.
