It explains that delay. I still have couple of those legacy free freedompop AT&T-sim lines, and they will be a pita to port out if I want to. But for now I am keeping those free lines.

Legacy GSM lines also work on AT&T network, but use voip, while new GSM lines operate as AT&T cell mvno lines.

What I don't understand is why even with new lines freedompop still requires a human intervention from new carrier and doesn't just release the number automatically as most other carriers do.
Each of these smaller MVNOs have their own quirks. H2O needs the line to be active for a few days before port-out. Freedompop could be the same. First time around freedompop rep gave me the account and pin info via chat. This time (2 days ago) the rep said that the info would be sent to my freedompop number via text. I did receive the text as promised, but looks like they are all reluctant regarding port-out and make up their own rules.

Also, do you tell tmobile it is from freedompop when you request port in. Thanks
Yes, that's what I did and gave them the account and Pin info. There was a message on my account to call T-mobile for help in port-in. I was busy and couldn't call in, meanwhile in a couple of hours I received a message that the port-in was successful. So, I didn't have to do anything other than providing the information initially.

Added the free line at Costco Sunday morning. They had to call in to add my line. The TMO phone rep said I needed to change to magenta. Costco rep and I were confused since I'm already on magenta 1.0. TMO rep said nevermind. They will add the line.

Checked this morning and apparently the phone rep changed my account from magenta 1.0 to magenta without my consent.

Our bill was $128/mo but is now $66/mo. Not sure what happened there.

Looks like they changed your plan to a 9-12 plan. Since the billing is done differently for a 9 line plan, bills tends to go down if you have free lines and hook up.

When you placed the iphone 12 order online for the new line as an upgrade, did your line get suspended ?
Haven't checked, the SIM is in my drawer...LOL
(I want to put it in the new iPhone-12 when I receive it today and then tomorrow I'll move that device to some other line and use an old XR with this new line)!
But why would it get suspended?
We are upgrading the device on that new/free line, so why would they suspend the line itself?

This is too good !!!
For me also it had gone down last year when I switched to 9-12 plan but only by $20 or so (i.e. from 120 it came down to 100)!
You insider discount is HUGE !
Wish I could get a similar discount. Any tips on how to get it?

Has anyone used Numberbarn to get a number for port in? I checked some of the numbers available and they are all from Bandwidth carrier, checked on TMobile if they could be used for port in, and it says they are...

just keep quiet and enjoy this price tag. just dont call them.
welcome to the 9-12 club
Similar results happened on my account this morning, although my switch was to a 9-12 line grandfathered T-Mobile One soc on Sunday. I now have 9 lines (5 free, 4 paid) for $66. The massive price drop is the result of discounts being applied on account level rather just line level when one joins the 9-line club.

To reach 9 lines, I stacked the now-expired $300 Costco BYOD BOGO-line promo (LOU5) last week, which will result in $600 in Costco cash cards in 14 weeks. That added two lines to put me at 8 lines total.

For line 9, I then added LOU6 along with the T439 iPhone 12 On Us promo. Port went through smoothly. Thanks to the SDer who promptly sold me a legit Cricket port number for only $4 agc. Much appreciated.

This ended up being one of the best deals of the past 10 years for me. Thanks to all of the SDers who helped by providing great info and guidance.

That being said, many of those in the T-mobile forum on Reddit are asking everyone to stop publicly posting the results of these 9-line changes, for fear T-mobile may kill it all. Oops, I guess I just did. Peace

Anyway, just passing it along here that maybe such detailed results and any specific requests for assistance from others should be done via PM rather than publicly regarding the 9-line club.

Keep and eye out for the insider discount.

Billing is weird. I don't understand it especially for the latest change to our plan but I'll keep quiet and accept it. 😁

We originally paid $160 for 4 lines. Got the insider 20% discount added and our bill dropped to $128. Added 4 free lines throughout 2020. Bill stayed the same since taxes are included for the magenta plan.

Don't understand how adding another free line (9 lines total, 4 paid, 5 free) drops the monthly plan by another $62. $128 to $66.

8 line plan starts with the total amount for paid lines, applies the hook-up discount at the end. 9 line plan starts at $310, applies autopay discount first, hook-up discount next, and then starts discounting the free lines one by one. Lines 3-8 should only be discounted by $20 (after autopay) and the 9 line plan discounts all of them by $30. Hence you see a reduction in the bill.

The hookup is $54 so the I think the plan is $270 (9 x $30).
The rest looks right.
They will eventually catch on and everyone will go back to their pre 9 line discount. Only thing hopeful for is the Kickback to remain at 9 lines. Kickbacks are rare so they might not catch that.

Agreed! Bad things could happen if our club gets too popular and bean counters start sniffing. The "just keep quiet" part is important!
