Ajit Pai deserves to rot in jail.
It's future proof and the price is right but only if you run ethernet to your computer.

Just gotta wait for Elon to finish launching those 🛰, others will follow suit and the ISP's will finally have some competition
Why was that a bad move exactly?
(If it matters they're fine with their 200Mbps plan.)

Exactly my point. It's an extra 30 in my area from them and that's monthly..i don't go over my cap at all, so i don't need to be paying them an extra 30 for at least 12 months. Do the math there. if you don't understand that then there's no point in continuing this discussion. they charge $10 extra for every 50gb of data used, so even if i were to go over the cap it still beats an extra $30 a month for no reason. i almost forgot... to use their unlimited "free".. you need to use their modem...nah i like having my own things.
from reddit:
If you have a router with a 2.5GBe port or an SFP+ 10GB port, I would spring for the 8611. That way if your provider offers a 2GB service or will in the future you are ready for it.
so you dont go over your cap or your parents?

usually, once you go over 1.2tb, its not a simple 50gb anymore, usually its more than a couple hundred gigs.
i just want to tell everyone that there is no need to buy a modem (and a router) if they are going for unlimited data. sign up with xfi complete, get everything included for $5 less than you buy your own modem (and a router) and sign up with their seperate unlimited data plan, which is $30.

Im an adult, a mature one(i'd like to think lol) i don't live with my parents. I have gone over b4 and it's only that extra $10 charge so in my case it's not worth it. And that they charge $10-15 modem rental fee. Comcast/xfinity are crooks. I only need internet, i don't use nothing else.
you dont have to stay with them unless you have no choice. in that case, i wouldnt blame on them.
i just switched to tmobile 5g home internet (for unlimited data) but the speed is really not consitent. so will have to switch back to xfinity soon. they are still the cheapest in our area, even after the promo is over. they know their market. i already called in a hundred times to ask for a better rate after 1 year promo was over. they wouldnt budge. other competitors in my area require 2 year agreement and at least $20 more for the same speed.
You'd be surprised how much control ISP's have built in to the equipment they supply. Raises many privacy and security issues.

FYI Starlink isn't going to (or meant to) match cable or fiber performance in urban areas. Too many users in close proximity.

its not how fast your internet (200mbps) is, its how much internet your parents are using every month. if you go beyond 1.2 tb, they will charge you, up to $50 more.
