I went to Hamer Toyota and they had balls to mark those up 3k plus 1k gps add-on. Came to $56.5k with no negotiation because stimulus money is here and dealers wants it all. Sad state

Hydrogen Fuel cell is exempt from CA rebate income limits.

"The income cap applies for all eligible vehicle types except fuel-cell electric vehicles."

If you have ever seen a failed 120PSI air compressor (filled with regular air) explode, you'll think twice about having a hydrogen tank with 10,000PSI full of hydrogen sitting a few feet away from you in the same enclosed area.
Wait until you find out that ICE engines run on explosions

Yeah having a car with a full 300mi tank in my garage every morning is super inconvenient. I miss those gas station stops!
Yeah having to stop every 300 miles for an hour to recharge 50% every time you drive anywhere outside of town is super convenient.

That's horrible. My car takes premium gas that's available everywhere and costs half as much per mile.
And the Mirai comes with a $15,000 card so you can fill it up for free for 3-5 years.

Your assuming battery tech today will be battery tech in a couple years. The advancements being made will make EVs the obvious choice long before some other more complex ecosystem could ever be spun up. Hydrogen could have had a chance in the commercial shipping space but I'd bet battery will win out there too.
I'm not at all. Batteries and charging WILL improve. But we're still going to be charging it with fossil fuels unless we have some other breakthrough. That's why I think batteries are a stop gap and not a real, foolproof solution.

I would agree if all battery research stopped today.

Alas. It won't.

Keep in mind serious EV battery research only started happening in the last decade. Wish I could see the future, imagine what batteries will be capable of in 2030.
Hydrogen fuel cell research isn't stopping either and has started being researched much more recent than battery technology.

Just remember Mirais have no resale value. Negative actually.

Toyota charges $10K for a CPO Mirai and it comes with $15k in H2
Where do I get paid $5000 to drive a FC car. Link please.

You should invest in tin foil, those hats need several layers!

Look at the trend lines for EV vs ICE cars. I think you'd find your 20 year prediction may be a bit off. 😅
No need for the clown statement.

Some of the more aggressive manufacturers are claiming all electric by 2035. That's nearly 15 years away and I am confident they aren't going to meet their goals. Of course the trend line for EV's is up. It's a new and growing technology! Car sales have been down overall so, again, ICE-powered cars aren't selling as well as in the past. People are keeping their cars longer. But show me a link proving what you are saying, in comparable numbers, and we'll talk.

I believe they are a permanent solution for smaller cars.

The problem is that many people don't have garages to charge their cars and battery charging is unlikely to get much more faster than it is now.

What are you talking about, lmao. Battery research has been on-going for 100+ years.

"The first successful electric car made its debut around 1890 thanks to William Morrison, a chemist who lived in Des Moines, Iowa. His six-passenger vehicle capable of a top speed of 14 miles per hour was little more than an electrified wagon, but it helped spark interest in electric vehicles."

Solar installations are increasing at exponential rates. I and several acquaintances cover 100% of our miles with our own generated solar. Electric is becoming very cheap very fast.

If you live some weird existence where you have to drive over 300 miles a day then EVs may not be for you.

When I road trip I stop for 15-20 minutes to charge 60% which is long enough to hot a bathroom and crack my back. Not sure where you got an hour; superchargers are pretty quick.

As an aside, I've visited a supercharger 4 times in 31 months. Destination chargers are sweet.

Perfect is the enemy of good. A reusable energy store like a battery that can get recharged to hundreds of thousands of miles by potentially clean energy will be better in multitudes of ways than an ICE car. Perfect, no. But better, and as battery tech and battery recycling matures it will get even better.
How does that change the fact that battery production is extremely harmful to the environment? By your logic, battery production will only continue to exponentially increase until it's unsustainable. Just like coal.

Hydrogen is a true renewable.
