And the supply , as someone said upstream , they had to park their hydrogen car for almost a month because there was no Hydrogen available ,
If it was a hybrid it would be more interesting
And the price of fuel is going to hurt when you have to pay retail after the Fuel Card runs out ,
In general, it's $150K for single, 204K for head-of-household, and 300K for joint for CA and Fed BEV and PHEV income qualifications. There is even more incentives for those that are equal or greater than 400% poverty.
CA excludes income caps for FCEV because there just aren't enough FCEV cars and applicants.
CA only allows 1 BEV/PHEV rebate but the exception is with FCEV. You can get both 1 BEV/PHEV AND 1 FCEV like the Mirai.

What is the news here? Car and driver was writing about it a long time ago. 60 mph: 9.1 sec, no thank you

1) $15K Hydrogen fuel card is good for 3 years for lease and 6 years for purchase.
2) Hydrogen fuel is currently more expensive than gas and way more than electric. Currently it's around $75-$100 for a full tank for the 400miles range. The idea and hope is that it will be more prevalent and cheaper over time BUT don't hope or buy this car on this wish.
3) The depreciation on the FCEV are the worst of any car you can buy so don't buy this car, or any FCEV, thinking you will recoup any real money if you intend to purchase the Mirai, like I did. Purchase this Lexus luxury caliber and quality car because it is a phenomenal deal for around a $7-$10K (give or take depending on your driving habits) after all the perks over six years. Yes, I think this car would easily last this long as it is a Toyota.
4) Make sure you have at least two+ hydrogen fueling stations conveniently located near your home or place of work. If not AVOID this car like Covid-19!!! Refueling is a huge compromise.
5) Do NOT consider this car unless you have access to a second car. Hydrogen fueling stations aren't ready for prime time, possibly never will be. I would think this applies to pure BEVs as well. I don't know too many people that only have a BEV as it too isn't ready for prime time but definitely will be. You will regret trying to having a only a FCEV, or even possibly BEV, as your only one vehicle. PHEV us the best for a single car scenario but BEV is more doable than FCEV. FCEV, no, just no.
I have friend that states he did the math on new car deprecation at $4K over 3 years. If you keep this Mirai over 6 years, this would mean about at least $8K+. Therefore, if you drive and take full advantage of the $15K fuel card then then $7-$10K cost over 6 years would be about how much a typical car depreciates. Please don't take this as fact but mere information that you would have to calculate and make sure it reflects your situation.
Overall, this 2021 Mirai is an fine piece of technology and luxury if it works for your specific situation.

thought some of the tax credits have income restriction and are first come first serve until depleted for the year as well?
Ca-DMV1000 form lists it out.

As for not knowing many who are full BEV; Hello, nice to meet you. I've got two Tesla's and no gas car. One with 110k miles and the other with 40k. I've driven them across the country. Stayed at Airbnb's. I'm not going to lie and say everything is the same as a gas car. But on the long trips where there's been a few inconveniences it's been outweighed by not having to fill up the gas tank biweekly.
Hydrogen stations will never be prime time because they will never be popular and always be expensive. I did research on this once about the cost of a filling station. Hydrogen was $1m to build one and an 8 car supercharger was $80k (this was a decade ago, but in my view nothing has changed). The economics will kill hydrogen every time.
In short: this car is a bad deal for life. The only thought I had for this deal was if the cost was low enough could I actually sell it for scrap and make $$.
Found a few here in socal surprisingly one right next to my house here in orange county

I got a great deal on a 1995 Nissan 300zx with low miles. I paid $3000 for it but I did the math and they are charging me registration based on about a $9000 value.
