I just refueled last Thursday and it was $16.8/kg.
I went into more details on the refueling experience as well as cost comparison vs gasoline in my review (http://www.zr07.com/2021/03/2021-...lexus.html [zr07.com]).
Great Blog! Can you explain more on the $5K Dealer Incentive give back?

I hope that everyone on here that got in on the deal is super happy, seems like a great deal. What prevented me from jumping into the pool with you guys are the lines at the H2 pumps are about to get much longer due to the lack of infrastructure and all these new Mirais XLE on the road in CA.
I'm hoping along with the others that didn't get on the deal this time, that more H2 pumps will be installed in the upcoming years.
This past week, the stations near me had issues of no more H2 (took 2 days to refill) or the pumps were frozen.
Although there seems to be plenty of Limited models, I can't seem to pull the trigger on the additional 15-18k difference.
Thank you to those that gave all of us the detailed and precise info, much appreciate the dedication to share this new model.
I do have a question to those that own the car is that, was there any mention about the replacement of the H2 tanks since there seems to be an expiration date?
Happy driving to all the new Mirai owners!!!
Please keep us updated on your Mirais.

I got the last XLE on Sunday at Toyota Santa Monica dealership. Kevin was super nice and made the whole process really easy.
They don't know if they will get more before the end of the month since the $20,000 deal is only good until then end of March and who knows maybe they will extended to April.

Car drives great and although it's not a sports car, it's perfectly fine for LA traffic and that electric torque makes it feel snappy.

Super happy with my car =)
Congrats on your new car. What color and deal did you get? What was your OTD final price? Thx

Does not support it. I just attempted to add it to Google Pay and it stated the card is not supported so can assume Apple Pay isn't supported either.

That is sucky. So, people are carrying around 15k cc. I guess if it is attached to the VIN, no one else can use it even if stolen.

It's the total negotiated discount between you and the dealer. Huge YMMV there as I got nothing more than $1k at one dealer.

It's harder to get more than $2k now as the XLEs are flying off the shelf, thanks to SD, reddit, and all the people that already know about this deal.

Good luck bro.

Yeah the dealers didn't offer much off MSRP. But you could get another 1K if you have a Toyota owner. 51598 without tax was what I got offered without the Toyota incentive. This was for a XLE with advanced tech package, I assume black color. Tax YMMV.

That's only in states like TX. In most states, electricity prices are regulated.

That's not really an "article"

It's nonsense anti-EV fud- mostly with the author acting as the mouthpiece for Toyota.

The biggest company in dead last place on battery electric vehicles because they kept trying to make garbage hydrogen fuel happen for 10+ years is telling us NOT to switch to battery electric cars that they're way behind on making?

HOW SHOCKING! LMAO

The author BTW is listed as "Bryan Preston served as chief of staff at the Texas Railroad Commissioner. The Texas Railroad Commission regulates oil and gas production in the Lone Star State"

Huh, I wonder why the dude whose job was all about oil and gas doesn't like folks reducing their dependence on fossil fuels? IT IS A MYSTERY.

The FUD from Toyota (through this guy) is utter nonsense though.

They cite a study about how we'd need SO MANY CHARGING STATIONS if even just a significant FRACTION of cars go electric.

We already have them. They're called houses.

Roughly 2/3rds of the US population already lives in single-family detached homes (gets nearer 3/4th if you count attached ones with garages, and detached trailers)

Virtually all of which have electricity right now and can charge an EV right now.

99% of EV charging is done at home

No stopping 1-2 times a week at a "station" some where and wasting your time.

Just get home, plug in, wake up with as full a "tank" as you wish to.

Vastly superior distribution system to wasting real estate on 'stations' all over the place.

"fueling stations" are only needed in support of long road trips- which most folks do rarely or in some cases not at all. We will need some more of those, but far less than we need current gas stations (or would need future Hydrogen stations- speaking of...)

Even weirder for Toyotas argument- their own solution they'd been pushing for a decade, hydrogen, is [B]worse in ever way including fueling[/B}

Unlike electricity, nobody I'm aware of has a hydrogen fueling station at their home

Those you WOULD have to build out a massive infrastructure for.

So you'd....

1) waste a bunch of electricity MAKING hydrogen.
2) waste even more resources transporting and storing it to a bunch of fueling stations you'd ALSO have to waste resources on to set up.
3) waste even MORE power turning that hydrogen back into... electricity... which is what actually powers Hydrogen fueled cars....

That's just an EV with extra steps.

A lot of extra, costly, inefficient, and pointless steps.

Versus-

Just run the car on electricity in the first place.

Which we already have infrastructure to make.... and distribute... and people already have at home, and which is entirely source agnostic, and avoids a TON of conversion losses along the entire chain.

Can folks get the CA and Federal rebates / tax credits multiple times?

I purchased an EV in 2019 and claimed both credits before. Perhaps the credits are per vehicle instead of household?

Check out this video of Toyota Japan explaining the new Mirai's features.

https://youtu.be/ci1n8_-kj_s

You can skip through the green and supply chain stuff. The car feature section starts at 10:21.

Did you know that the car can be used to generate DC power in case of a major disaster? I gotta look it up in my manual. They probably need a cabling/conversion kit of some sort.

Before Dec 3, 2019 the CA rebate was 2 per lifetime. After that it changed to 1 per lifetime. So, if you purchased your first EV before Dec 3rd then you're eligible for one more rebate.

As for the Fed tax credit, if I remember correctly there's only an annual limit on EV purchases/credits but unlimited per lifetime.
