Alright folks, as requested I created a video with a step-by-step to replace the front fan and repaste the RTX 3080 GPU. The temps in my machine decreased from 110 degree memory junction down to 76 degrees following these relatively simple mods. Not too bad.

I'm not a youtuber, simply created this video for your benefit to maximize the performance of the unit. Here is a link:
https://youtu.be/YklybEdoKIM
"Dell Aurora R12 RTX 3080 Repaste and Fan optimization - Easy 30 degree temp difference fix!"

Enjoy.
You and everyone else. Everyone coming to slickdeals and posting these 3080 deals from dell don't understand that they will not actually ship.

I've done it twice now. Both times they delayed my shipment every month. My first order took 5 months of delays before they finally cancelled and gave me a crappy 10% coupon that expires in June. Everyone on reddit knows not to bother posting these dell builds because dell doesn't ship. They simply take your payment information, add you to their mailer list, sell your information to other companies, cancel your order and enjoy the profits of their farmed mailer list of people who want the latest technology.

Dell is trash tier right now, hell I'd even trust Newegg over Dell when it comes to 3080 products, and that's embarrassing to say.

https://www.ign.com/articles/dell...-hot-price <- IGN did an article on this already. It was full of $1500 3080 builds and links.

Trust me, these guys aren't shipping. Feel free to reply here with a picture of it actually arriving if you think you can prove me wrong.

So I recieved my R10 (same chassis as this PC but AMD 5600x CPU) with a 3080. Dell's 3080 performs pretty well despite the small case. I decided to change the intake fan and fan on the AIO for a couple of Noctua fans and my CPU and GPU temps both top out around 30-35C idle and 65C under full load.
I also setup NiceHash to test mining and got a stable 94MHz for a few hours but the VRAM temps did get hot as all 3080s do.

Did you test baseline before adding the fans? Curious what the difference is/was ?

Sorry no actual benchmarks, I only gamed before making the changes. I remember seeing about a 10C change. The real benefit was noise reduction.

So would it be better to not get the liquid cooling from Dell and instead swap out an aftermarket cooler for the slim Dell cooler?

Liquid cooling is really needed in this system. The Dell CPU air cooler is terrible and the PSU sits right on top of the CPU when closed. The AIO from Dell is decent but I decided to change the fan that was attached to the AIO radiator to a quieter one.

The front fan was incredibly easy, basically plug and play, and would only take a few minutes. Dell has a plastic clip that will fit any 120mm fan. I chose a Noctua F12 ($20).

The top fan on the liquid cooler is a bit harder to do since you have to remove the radiator too.

Placed order, and just got confirmation email. I hope it doesn't get cancelled like stated in other comments. Used 10% off for signing up dell, 100 off 500 amex card, plus 5% cash back on chase card, also popular cash back site.

The motherboard is 490. I don't think it has pci-e 4.0

If you own these and are planning to mine are game or do something intensive, I highly recommend changing out the thermal pads. I kid you not, it will not only save you from thermal throttle and drop the memory junction temps at least 10 degrees. I did some tests with before and after, and the thermal pads used in the current Dell ones are not very good quality. When I opened the GPU, the pads just tore off and were really brittle.

Looking around online I was learning that these had heat issues with vram, so I found people were doing this mod to get the most of the gpu. I thought it was a joke, until I actually did it. I monitored temps and it dropped from 110 degrees + to around 92 - 96 under full load. I highly recommend 12.8 W/mk pads. Right now on Amazon they are expensive, but in like a few weeks I have a bunch I ordered, I might just throw out the rest on Amazon cause the ones right now are a huge ripoff. You pay a steep price for little from Amazon and they are totally like not that price.

Also I believe the size they use for the full front memory is 1.5mm as well as the back. On Amazon that thermal Odyssey one like mentioned earlier is over priced. PM Me later, maybe I'll send it for what I paid pretty much.
