Serious Eats found the Calphalon stainless steel skillet wobbly. Tramontina tends to be as seen as second next to All-Clad.

It's a good third option, buy Calphalon if you prefer it, you really can't go wrong.

Calphalon is the inventor and for sure the king of hard anodized aluminum cookware while All Clad is the same for fully clad stainless steel. In the tier below All Clad, as long as it's well-constructed, it's mostly preference and you can't really go wrong like FeistyOstrich718 said.

Pure aluminum transfers heat more quickly and evenly than pure stainless.
Hard anodized is solid aluminum where the surface has been hardened for durability. Clad is (typically) a layer of aluminum sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel.
Some clad is cheaper because the sandwich is only on the bottom where the heat is applied - in this set it is all the way up the sides. Just make sure the set you are getting is made in Brazil, not the Chinese version (with glass lids) sold at some large discount stores.
The hard anodized will discolor if you put it in the dishwasher and it is not induction compatible.
I purchased a set of Tramontina about a year ago for my new induction range and like it so much that I just ordered another set for my second kitchen area.
I have a few pieces of All-Clad and prefer the Tramontina. The handles are far more comfortable and the price difference simply cannot be justified - there is no noticable cooking difference.

What's the difference between this Tramontina set being sold at Sam's club and the Tramontina Gourmet 12pc set at other retailers that sells for almost twice the price?

I don't see a real difference except some sets have different pieces such as a saucier instead of a 12 inch skillet, or more saucepans.
