as a runner i value the fit, optical clarity, and field-of-view of oakley "sport performance [oakley.com]" sunglasses, but mainlinks [oakley.com] are "performance lifestyle [oakley.com]" which i have no recent experience with. if you have the disposable income and value their qualities, then they are worth it (even more so when on sale Grin). if you often lose, break, or scratch your sunglasses, then i recommend a $10-20 pair of no-name sunglasses from your local walmart/target/department store that you can easily replace without remorse.

I can't speak to ray-ban, except that tom cruise looked "cool" in wayfarers in "risky business" and aviators in "top gun". Wink2

the last pair of oakley lifestyle sunglasses i had were frogskins (clear frame, grey tint) back in '92-93. they were horrible for running in as the nosepad and earpiece were the same smooth hard plastic as the frame (ie not unobtainium), so they slid and bounced around, but that's not why i bought them (ie immature "cool factor").

ever since then i've had oakley performance sunglasses: m frame (old-style, grey), m frame (new-style, grey heaters), m2 frame (grey and polarized black iridium), and evzero path (black iridium). i still have and wear all but the old-style m frame (which broke and oakley replaced by mail with the new-style m frame in '99; i hear they don't have that warranty and customer service any more). i wear the m frame and grey m2 frame on daily runs, use the polarized m2 frame for driving, and the evzero path for races. that's no different than some people with different shoes for different occasions.

this doesn't even touch on how some people live and die, literally, by their standard issue (SI) ballistic m frame.

if you read this far, then as an athlete and sunglasses snob, i agree that the oakley performance lifestyle sunglasses are overpriced/overrated, but if it subsidizes the cost of my oakley sport performance sunglasses, then i won't discourage people from buying them. Wink2

As an Asian, Oakley is the only brand that has regular sales that does Asian fit.

When going on runs it's very important that I have shades that fit. When I use the cheap stuff they keep falling off. With that said I've already scratched my oakleys and pissed how expensive the lenses are.

All overpriced. They and just about every other brand are owned by Luxottica. They have a monopoly on the market, including many major retailers.

Last ones I ordered from them went directly in the trash. Not sure if they were knockoffs or real, but they were what I would expect from a gas station. I couldn't give them away.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like you have to go to the store, try them on & write down the names of the sunglasses that you like and don't like. Because I usually can't remember by the time I see a sale on the sort of obscure models.

That said, we need a sale on the Twoface and Holbrook. šŸ˜Ž

I'm not a runner but I am a fan of planting myself on the sofa and watching movies stuffing myself with SD fast food deals. Would Oakley's work for me?

I wear the Mainlink rx trubridge as corrective glasses, stupid comfortable. I've worn the same pair daily for 3 years and finally ordered another from sunglassoutlet for $80 so that I can have a backup. These look the same but I didn't check to see if they have the replaceable nose pieces which is what makes them so comfortable to me.

Do you have one of those noses that slope down with no bridge bone so when you bend down, the glasses slide off your nose?

Mine stay on great unless I'm wearing a mask.
