anyone ever use 4k at 27"? How is that? Is scaling required?

Don't hear much about Philips these days, but I have a Philips 43" UHD monitor currently, which I believe to be an LG panel. Eventually had some problems with it when connected to my laptop. No issues with desktop.

Philips actually extended their 1yr warranty to 3 years and covered replacement of my monitor. No hassles. So if the monitor is a good panel, I can recommend Philips for customer service.

No problem. There aren't many monitors at 4k above 60 hz. Vizio has a 120 hz TV but no dp input so it can only do it with native apps and $1000 I believe. The LG ultragear 27GN950-B does 144 hz and is 4k but no hdmi 2.1 also $800.
XiDa was being sarcastic.

What's the model of the Vizio you mentioned?

There are plenty of 4K monitors with 120 Hz or even 144 Hz refresh rate; you are simply not aware of it. Their prices have started to come down to. Acer Predator XB273K available at $630 at Amazon, posted here multiple times. For monitor, not having HDMI 2.1 is not a big deal as literally all computers, especially the one with dedicated GPU, has DP 1.2 or DP 1.4 out.

Haha my bad. It's Vizio - 55" Class OLED 4K UHD Smartcast TV OLED55-H1. There's also a 65" model.

I would say your options are much more limited than most other resolutions like 1440p and 1080p. I am aware there are other 4k monitors. Hdmi matters if you are using a console.

Philips monitors are made by TPV. TPV also makes AOC monitors. According to latest stats, second largest seller of pc monitors globally, behind Dell. Although, TPV group produces OEM panels for other brands, possible Dell as well.

All Philips TVs outside of North America are also made by TPV. Audio is now licensed to TPV as well after Gibson bankruptcy.

Philips and Magnavox brands for TV/DVD/Blu-ray in North America have been licensed to Funai of Japan since 2008. Funai was the original OEM outsourcing electronics company before Foxconn. Funai also has the Sanyo brand.

Philips has divested electronics and lighting over the years. As of today they announced the divestment of appliances. Only electrical items really actually produced by Philips are Norelco electric shavers and Sonicare. They realized a long time ago the electronics, at least main stream/budget markets are too competitive to maintain profitability. See all the former Japanese electronic giants.

Philips is now a medical/healthcare technology company.

You'll probably need 125-175 percent ui scaling at minimum unless you are a masochist.

Even on my 32" 4K, I had to scale it to 1440p on a Mac.
