How is Linux support on Alienware laptops?
I am aware that NVidia driver requires some fiddling, but that's ok.
AX1650 Wi-Fi wouldn't work out-the-box too - I have experience with it on desktop.
Any other quirks?

Can corroborate. I have an older 17r4 with a 1080 and the thing gets SUPER hot, so much so that the keyboard is uncomfortable to use. I've read that the paste-jobs on these were horrible and am at the point where I have to decide whether to attempt a repaste or buy a desktop for my gaming instead.

Dude, I got a M15 R2, the heat killed the graphics card, fortunely it was covered by its warranty but it was a real pain to deal with Dell team.

Repaste is really not that hard unless the motherboard is inverted like some of the older MSI laptops, id say give it ago
