You can actually change the color. Mine came with Alienware control software installed. The LED can change to a wide variety of colors and pulsating or solid patterns, etc. Pretty cool.

It can be either blue or red.

i will be adding another 8gb ram,8tb 5900rpm hdd and gaming mouse, keyboard with headset.

PC builds assessment is
Total: 275 W
Minimal PSU Wattage: 325 W
Recommended PSU Wattage: 375 W
adding the RAM + HDD on one of the websites I'm looking at say 357W which puts you are 99% of the power supply. That's if your cpu is at 90% usage. Your CPU might not be but could also jump to 100% then exceed your power supply at 363w.

https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

make sure to add your WLAN card in here as well as the built in cpu and case fans.

I can't get the price below 549.99 even when I decline monthly offer.

How does this work?
After going to the Dell G5 link scroll down to Warranty & Support and click the area circled in red in the picture below

GPU is going to be the tough part. Normally I'd say wait but prices on video cards are ridiculous and may get worse. Just look how much the video card and CPU are individually.
I know, I can't tell what's going on lately. I bought a few graphics cards in the middle of last year at the height of the pandemic (one of these and two vanilla 1660 ones) and it seems like prices are even worse now. The mentality on this site is to always wait for prices to fall and wait for a better deal. That went out the window. And believe it or not Staples was the cheapest place I could find GPUs LOL. I've never bought GPUs from Staples in all my years unless they were on clearance or something. You would think things would've stabilized and the demand would've settled by now. In the past there was always deals on GPUs with game bundles and MIRs, but haven't seen much of that lately. Maybe the prices are just going to be high from here on out.

So I still had the previous G5 deal in my cart and when I applied this coupon the total came to $495. Seems to have all the same specs. I pulled the trigger but can't recreate the deal. YMMV.

There's a chip shortage. Car makers even had to close factories because not enuff chips to install into new cars. Also 90% of chips are made from TSM in Taiwan and Samsung in Korea. Chip factories consume huge amounts of water and there's a water shortage in Taiwan.

That and more people are working from home. And those ppl staying at home need new laptops, get bored, decided to buy new GPUs to upgrade or build a system. Even Samsung can't make some phones due to chip shortages.

Dell can get GPUs cheaper cuz they have the buying power. And the more you buy, the more discounts the GPU makers give them. More demand + less supply = prices go up.

Just google or: https://arstechnica.com/cars/2021...m-hyundai/

I bought a GTX 1050ti 1 month before pandemic for $90.00. Now you you see them for $200 to $300. The MOAR you know....

May be a dumb question - I do own a Mac mini M1, is this thing better than that ?
Depends on what you want to use it for. For productivity/office work, email, web browsing what 90% of people use computers for, they'll both perform extremely well. Though, the Mac Mini will probably feel a bit snappier. For photo and especially video editing, the Mac is going to outshine the Dell. It has a much better processor and a lot of programs are tailored to optimize it. For games, the because of its dedicated graphics card, the Dell is going to be able run a lot of games the Mini can't, and that's before you get into all the games that aren't available on OS X at all. But, that said, it's an older card. So don't expect it to be a modern AAA gaming powerhouse. The other advantage of the Dell is that you can upgrade it. It's easy and relatively inexpensive to add more RAM or storage down the road if you need it. I'd recommend adding another 8GB RAM stick ($40-50) and a larger SSD ($100-ish depending on size) right off the bat.

In a nutshell, they're both great machines that can do most things very well. The Mac Mini will perform a little better/faster. The Dell can play more games.

So do you live in a tax-free state? OTD means after taxes too. Any details on what was different or what you did even if you ended up at $528 + tax?

Have missed the past few deals, is it worth buying this for my son who wants to do gaming, or should I spend a bit more and get him something more powerful?
