Not sure if it's actually a discount of $53 as best buy claims, more like $15 from usual price of around $70

Yeah not a true $53 discount. Its just how Best Buy plays the game. This drive was $59.99 in the past week or two. Best Buy is playing games with how it lists prices. They are giving the buyer the illusion they (the buyer) are getting a deal by saving $53 over the $109.99 "price". When in reality one is paying a few dollars less than the standard price a day or week ago. In this case saving $3 over the previous price of $59.99.

At $56.99 that puts it at $28.50 per TB. Which is a meh price per TB in the grand scheme of things since the smaller capacity portable mechanical drives almost always have a higher per TB price (average $8 to $10 more) than their higher capacity bothers. Currently (as of this post) the Best Buy Easystore portable 5TB is priced at $99.99 making that drive $20 per TB.

Yeah I'd rather get something with better price per TB. But some people from what I've read previously like having these smaller hard drives for some reason

Probably some older devices only take 2TB max

Generally applying a shock to any electronic item is not a good idea. Wave

Now if you mean can it be "shucked", then the answer is no. Generally the portable WD drives like the portable Easystore and portable Elements have the USB port embedded into the 2.5 inch hard drive. If you want a "shuckable" external hard drive then look at some of the Seagate portable drives or look to the larger footprint external desktop drives (3.5 inch sized).

Edit to add: Deal of the day price is over. Price for this 2TB drive is back to its regular recent price of $59.99 (on the morning of 3/27/21).

I doubt someone using a laptop and needs more offline storage on the go would be keen on carrying a 3.5" USB3 external that requires its own separate power brick.

this doesn't require its own power brick

Exactly the point.

Mind, if one needs to use these with a Raspberry Pi or something, these lower capacity 2.5" drives with fewer platters use less power and could work more reliably.
