used it for 3 days and had to return it. the wifi 5 bands have short range. (yes I had the latest firmware installed)
my Asus AC68U router has the same range which is 5+ years old.
wasnt impressed by this router at all.

also after doing research, Netgear filters ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol) connection for IPV6
my connection grade on https://ipv6-test.com/ could never get above 17 (out 20) because of this filtering.
With my Asus router and with Merlin installed my grade is 19 (out of 20)

Wow, people here always seem to hate these Netgear routers that generally get good reviews elsewhere. My theory is that many of the criticisms come from power users who dislike things that most of us, myself included, don't even understand. Maybe that's an oversimplification?

Basically I just want it to be reasonably priced, easy to setup and use, fast, reliable and long-lasting. Why is that so hard to find sometimes? Isn't that what most of us want?!

I'm still leaning toward this one because of the price and the Costco warranty (I usually try to bend over backwards to get my tech at Costco) but I truly appreciate all of the comments and feedback I can get.

I know it's a different product, but I got a R7800 to replace an Asus RT-AC68U and it wasn't the upgrade I was expecting. It can handle more devices, but man does Netgear software suck. You HAVE to run Voxel firmware, because stock requires semi-frequent restarts. I have my all my dumb devices on 2.4GHz and only phones/laptops on 5GHz, and I still have 5GHz clients drop occasionally. I never had these problems on my Asus, which I only upgraded because I needed to support more devices (>30).

Ethernet backhaul is nonexistent, so there's pretty much no upgradeability. I got a RT-AC86 for another family and it has been flawless for them. I regret not just getting two AC86's.

Also no one should be buying a WiFi 6 router. WiFi 6E is where all the real gains are, and if your devices don't support WiFi 6 then what's the point?

Got a 4 due to ip6 not being supported by my isp. Guess the router wouldn't help that.

I got this router few weeks backs. So far it's good at 18 connections to this. I have no issue on dropping connection. The three banks are working well for me.
I did configure with either router or access point and it works fine so far.
The app is fine as you can check how many device connected and enable/disable/update, which is very basic but for me it's good.

I like the design of these netgear routers but I have always had issues with them. Always had wifi drop or the router could not keep stable connectivity from the modem. Used at least 4 different routers from netgear and even changed firmwares.

I have my Netgear R6700 that has been solid all these years and I have been using it as an access point for my Asus AC-1900, and I decided to upgrade my router with this one. Like others have mentioned here, I had to return mine because in the few days that I've had it, it was very frustrating to have to reboot this router frequently. Webpages don't seem to load, and although I get better speeds when I perform a speed test, more often than not the speed test would not load and just fail. I also tried the TP-link Deco X60 which is also on sale at costco, but the inability to choose channels (which I needed to do for my 2.4 ghz devices) made me return that router also.
I have an r6700v2 and it's amazing. But why are all the new netgear routers complete piles of garbage?

This just arrived in the mail today... but it's for our new house which won't be finished in about 6-8 weeks.

All these negative comments have me worried... My old Nighthawk R6700 has always been a great router... so I thought this was a no-brainer upgrade for the price.

Where the happy users at!?

Have you used this one? How does it compare? What's so bad about it?

76% of the reviews are 4 or 5 stars on Costco... so I'm a little confused on who to listen to.

I'm in the same boat. The more I read, the more confusing it gets! At least Costco trumps all, easy refund if you don't like it.

That's kind of the route I'm in... they are literally the easiest on returns and it's 90 days... so I can finish building my house. Get it in there to test... and if it sucks just switch back to my R6700. It's just too small to cover the house... so I'll probably have to keep looking if it does in fact suck.

Keep in mind WiFi 6 increases speed not range.

Bought as an upgrade from the Nighthawk x4s, and at this price, it's been a worthwhile investment.

I've had this for about a week and I am having issues with it. It seems to lose wifi connection often and the only way to fix it is to reboot it. I've had to reboot it almost every single day now. Pretty sure this is going back.

Bought about a month ago and it has worked well. This is my 3rd nighthawk (all different models) and never had issues with it.
