It works wonders removing waterstains from my stainless pans, but it will leave swirl marks. Not recommend for non stick, "cast iron", enamel cookware.
They are one of the most abrasive sponges I ever used.
I'd understand nonstick & enamel but cast iron??
These must be some seriously rough sponges.
I tested these on plastic and they left deep swirl marks so they're definitely heavy duty. I'd only recommend for stainless steel, it would destroy the coating on your coated pans (including cast iron)!
After all is said, they're awesome for the right job; they're more specific-use than general-purpose.
I use antibacterial Palmolive dish soap (I only use antibacterial) even before COVID, and it usually works for me. By the time I have to replace my sponge it's because it's worn out as opposed to smelly bacterial overgrowth. Just my experience.

Occasionally microwave for 20 seconds or so, or put it in boiling water for a few seconds.
