Probably silicon based vs wax based "wax".

Idea with both is to let water bead up and fall off the car, taking with it any dirt and such from the rain rather than sitting on the paint and eating thru it (acid rain).

Both are sacrificial - wears over time.

How long they last depends on your environment and car paint.

As for glossiness, which is totally separate from water beading, I still personally prefer Meguiars Gold Class liquid applied with a rotary buffer, hand buffed with a microfibre cloth.

For an average shine, this spray is fine on newer cars where the paint hasn't worn dull.

There are better water repellants out there (I prefer Aquapel myself), but there's nothing wrong with Rain-X and it's widely available.

Question: Does anyone know what product is used when you go to a dealership and they clean your car? That seemed to be quick and shiny all over, including the tires. I doubt they spend much time on it.

The purpose of this product is the restore the slick feeling and water-beading effect of having applied a fresh coat of wax or sealant after washing - this product does not necessarily add shine or gloss, it merely adds a super thin layer of very temporary protection. And you have to really wipe off all the excess or else dirt will actually stick to your car even better

I tried Aquapel once. It definitely lasted longer than Rain X but did not repel water as well as Rain X. A freshly applied Rain X just flings water off better than freshly applied Aquapel.

Having done a hundred rebates before, I doubt this rebate company is going to customize the amount of each individual Rebate check. They normally will just send out $14.99 to everyone.

This is what I'd do because of the easy nice gloss. I use it on my cars between a full wax.
I agree with the use of this type of product after the car has been washed, polished, and waxed. I use a detailer to knock the dust off and enhance the shine. Products like this are great for in between washes! I never used this one, however.
